What a weekend! It will take awhile to
adequately convey just how proud i am of the performance of our girls at this year’s IEL Championships. They’ve been preparing for months, and it was so fun to watch their hard work pay off. Of course no show goes without some kind of issue. Last week Cowbelle had an untimely abscess. We tried all the things to help her be ready on time, but on Wednesday we decided it wasn’t meant to be. After a couple of dressage lessons and one jump school, we swapped Bry to Birdie so she could still go. The old man did not disappoint. He and Bry had a lovely dressage test and a double clear xc round to start today tied for 5th with Kennadi who also had a fantastic dressage test and a double clear xc round. Bird jumped fence one then decided he needed to p**p, and if you’ve ever ridden him you know there is NO making him move while he is doing business. After an extremely long poo, he jumped clean, but they were over time and dropped out of the ribbons 🙄 So proud of Bry’s smiles during a disappointing abd uncontrollable event. (The TD told Grace that we needed to teach our horses to p**p before the buzzer, and she was serious 😂)Ken and Logan cruised around clear with a little over a point in time to finish 6th in a big starter division! Alden and Meika added only 1 rail to their dressage score to finish the weekend on a 38 in 11th in Jr Novice! They have worked so hard for this, and seeing Alden’s smiles all weekend was priceless. AG and Blue moved up to BN this weekend, and they had their best dressage test to date. After almost 2 years since his last recognized horse trial, Blue looked ever the part as he and AG stormed around xc clear this afternoon as the final pair on course. They were tremendous and finished in 15th! For the past 3 years, Mel and Rory have put in countless hours of blood, sweat, and a few tears and their hard work showed out this weekend. After their classiest dressage test to date and a double clear xc coure, they found themselves in the top 10 going into show jumping. With a double clear show jumping round, they finished out the weekend in 9th on their dressage score. To top it all off, the RRE team finished 8th out of 22 teams to being home a ribbon at this years IEL Championships! What a weekend ❤️
