🐾 September is National Preparedness Month! 🚨

When disaster strikes, our pets depend on us to be prepared. In veterinary medicine, we know that having a plan before an emergency happens can make all the difference for our four-legged family members.
🌪️ Build a pet emergency kit with food, water, medications, first-aid supplies, a leash/carrier, and their comfort items.
📋 Keep veterinary records accessible — including vaccination records, medications, medical conditions, and your veterinary hospital's contact information.
💊 Have extra medications and essential supplies on hand, especially for pets with chronic medical needs.
🆔 Make sure your pet can be identified. Microchipping and keeping ID tags current greatly improve the chances of being reunited if you become separated.
🏠 Know where you can go. Identify pet-friendly shelters, hotels, or friends and family who could help if you need to evacuate.
🚗 Practice your evacuation plan. Don’t wait for an emergency to discover that your pet is afraid of the carrier or that your supplies aren't ready!
🐶🐱 A little preparation today can make protect your whole family — paws included! ❤️

🇺🇸 We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

Today, Heritage Oaks Veterinary Hospital pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the incredible courage of the first responders, service members, rescue teams, and everyday heroes who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also remember the brave search-and-rescue dogs and their handlers who worked tirelessly at Ground Zero, offering their strength, loyalty, and comfort when they were needed most. 🐾❤️

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and spirit of unity remain with us.

May we always remember those we lost, honor those who served, and hold their families in our hearts.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forgotten. 🇺🇸

🐾 What happens in the back… stays in the back! 😉❤️

Except when our patients are this adorable! 🥰

Behind the scenes, our veterinary team is busy giving your fur babies the love, attention, and treatment they need to feel their very best. Sometimes that means exams, treatments, belly rubs… and the occasional “I’m just going to lie here and let you take care of me” moment. 😂🐶

Our patients may come to us for medical care, but they always get a little extra love along the way. ❤️

🐾 Because every patient deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for—from the front desk to the treatment area and everywhere in between!

🐾 June is National Microchipping Month! 🐾

Did you know that a microchip greatly increases the chances of being reunited with your pet if they ever become lost?

A microchip is a safe, permanent form of identification that can help shelters and veterinary clinics quickly contact you if your furry family member is found. Even indoor pets can accidentally slip outside, making a microchip one of the best ways to protect them.

✅ Quick and simple procedure
✅ Permanent identification
✅ Improves the likelihood of a happy reunion

If your pet isn’t microchipped yet, now is the perfect time! If they already have a microchip, be sure your contact information is up to date.

Call Heritage Oaks Veterinary Hospital today to schedule your pet’s microchip appointment or to verify your pet is microchipped. (352)513-3730.

Because every pet deserves a way home. ❤️🐶🐱
