Meet Dolly
🐾
This cutie started Puppy Program today! She just got adopted on Sunday and her parents have been doing a great job with her so far! Today we went over all the puppy basics and did food luring for sit and down! She’s so sweet and a lot of fun to work with, can’t wait to continue working with them!

Yesterday when Bruno got picked up from Daycare Training I saw that he was too nervous to jump into the car himself, we spent a few minutes working on it then but he wasn’t quite convinced!
🐾
Today we spent some time practicing jumping in/out of my car and after a bit of work he realized that he can do it! This was such a great confidence builder for him and an important life skill! We were excited to show off his newly learned skill….but his Dad picked up today in a pick up truck thats good bit taller than my car and Bruno wasn’t ready for that yet 😂 We will keep working on it and I’m sure he’ll be ready to jump into the trunk before we know it!

I am so proud of Lucy and the progress she is making! When she dropped off Thursday morning she was VERY reactive towards me, a stranger. Since she has made tremendous progress! On Saturday she got to meet a new stranger and right off the bat she did much better! Only two barks during a one hour training session!
🐾
Now that we’ve made significant progress with her reactivity to new people (in a controlled environment) we will also begin/continue to work on building her confidence. That will come through confidence building games, obedience games and good reps of being around triggers without reacting. We will continue to work around easier triggers inside and in the next few days we will begin working with more triggers and in different locations.
🐾
This lesson was Saturday and she has made even more progress since then! I can’t wait to get some more videos to share with y’all!

Meet Bruno!
🐾
This handsome pup is here for his first day of Daycare Training! Bruno is 6 months old and he is a classic lab puppy- he sweet, smart, loves to play, loves food and just has minor issues like chewing on things and pulling on the leash. He’s a perfect fit for Daycare Training and I know we will have a lot of fun!
🐾
So far we have already had a great working session. We started by practicing taking food gently. He LOVES food and takes it a little too excitedly and his puppy teeth are very sharp! He’s making improvements with that, that will be an ongoing thing we reinforce. Then we did some food luring games for sit, down and the kennel!
🐾
This is going to be a hard month of puppy fever for me because when I think about what I’d want my next dog to be a yellow lab is high on the list! Though I have decided (and am going to stick to!) that the RKDT pack is full and we won’t be adding anymore pets for at least a few years…so glad I’ll get to enjoy Mr. Bruno!

Miss Lucy is ROCKING IT!
🐾
When she dropped off yesterday morning it was pretty intense, a lot of growling, barking and lunging at me. After about a 20 minute warm up period I was able to take her leash from her mom and her training journey began!
🐾
Once she entered the kennel room she began barking at the other dogs, once in the kennel she continued to bark and them and at me. On the first day of training I don’t expect much from the dogs but kennel training begins immediately- I can’t have her continuing to stress herself out or stress out the other dogs here. So I began correcting the behavior by making with “no” and correcting with compressed air. It took less than five corrections and then she was able to stop barking begin decompressing in the kennel! Since this initial kennel session she’s needed only two more compressed air corrections. She is now taking food from me and she gets rewarded almost everytime I walk in the room, or another dog walks past her kennel!
🐾
The improvement in her kennel in less than 24 hours was a direct result of BALANCED TRAINING! I try and avoid corrections for the first couple of days a dog is here, but I REFUSE to let her out the other dogs sit in a stressful situation! Since then, she’s done great in the kennel and she’s taking food from me in the kennel. (Shout out to her parents for implementing some food schedule changes at home to help build her food drive!)
🐾
By the end of the day yesterday she warmed up to me and was asking for affection, which I gladly gave her! Today she has begun working for her food and we have done food lure for sit, down and place! I am thrilled with the progress she has made in only about 30 hours! I can’t wait to continue to work with her to build her confidence and make her reactivity a thing of the past once and for all!

Meet Lucy!
🐾
Lucy is here for a four week Board & Train! She has a lot of reactivity towards people and other dogs. She’s got a big girl bark and uses that to her advantage when barking and lunging at guests or other dogs. She also is starting to have some Separation Anxiety and will have accidents in her kennel when left home alone.
🐾
I am very excited to work with Lucy and help her gain some confidence and some manners!

Wrex Graduated last week! Silly Miss Rachel, I forgot to get his “Picture with Dog” so I will post that later once we get it. Wrex did amazing while he was here in training and we made a lot of progress! I have already gotten updates since he has been home and he has done really well with his training! So proud of him and his family!

We always have rabbits in the yard, and they normally have their babies under their shed, so this is a first for us. I’ve never actually seen a rabbit nest before so it’s pretty cool! I’m so thankful that I train all the dogs “out” and that I was able to use this command to keep the bunnies safe! I did some research and Google says to put the fluff back so I’ll do that and then continue to keep the dogs away!
