‼️IMPORTANT SCHEDULE UPDATE‼️

With Labor Day weekend approaching, we wanted to share an important update to our upcoming hours.

Due to a family emergency, our schedule will look a little different than usual over the next week. We are doing our best to balance being available for our patients and clients while also taking the time we need to manage some personal matters.

We know changes in our normal schedule can be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding during this difficult time.

If your pet needs to be seen, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We encourage you to plan ahead for any appointments or medication refills you may need before our closures on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thank you for allowing our family to care for yours — and for extending that same care and understanding to our family when we need it most. 🤍

When we say we’re family owned and operated, we really mean it.

Today, our little boy is at the clinic because he’s not feeling well but there are still things that need to be done! Dr Davis is super dad.

One of the special things about owning a family business is that our kids are truly a part of it all. They grow up around the people we work with, the clients we love, and the community we’re so grateful to serve.

Family owned. Family operated. Family cared for.

My pet needs a dental cleaning?

YES!

This is my dog, Winnie! She’s a 5-year-old Mini Aussiedoodle who has received regular preventative dental care, VOHC-approved dental chews, and other at-home dental care since she was a puppy. Even with all of those preventative measures, Winnie still needed five teeth extracted during her most recent dental procedure.

Winnie is a great example of why preventative care and routine dental evaluations are so important. Small-breed dogs are especially prone to tartar buildup, periodontal disease, and other dental problems due in part to having so many teeth crowded into a relatively small mouth.

Good at-home care can significantly help slow the progression of dental disease, but it doesn’t always prevent it completely. Some pets—especially small breeds—may still need regular professional cleanings and, occasionally, extractions despite their owners doing everything right at home.

The goal of preventative dental care isn’t necessarily to guarantee that a pet will never lose a tooth—it’s to identify and treat dental disease early, minimize discomfort and infection, and keep their mouth as healthy as possible throughout their life.

🐱 ONE CAT CAN BECOME A LOT OF CATS — FAST! 🐱

Did you know a female cat can go into her first heat as early as 4–6 months old? If she isn’t spayed, she may go into heat every 2–3 weeks during breeding season.

And cats are incredibly efficient at reproducing. One female can have multiple litters in a year, with several kittens per litter. Her daughters can begin reproducing within months, too.

That means one unspayed cat can quickly become dozens—or even hundreds—of cats over just a few years. 😳

🌿 What about feral cats?

When unowned cats reproduce outdoors, their numbers can grow rapidly and form feral colonies. Feral cats face significant risks themselves—disease, parasites, starvation, injury, extreme weather, and being hit by cars.

They can also have a substantial impact on local wildlife. Cats are natural predators, and outdoor and feral cats can kill birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other wildlife. This can put additional pressure on native species and disrupt local ecosystems.

The good news? Prevention makes a HUGE difference.

🐾 The bottom line:
Spay your cat. Neuter your cat.

One surgery can prevent years of reproduction and countless unwanted kittens.

At Davis Family Veterinary Hospital, we’re here to help you make the best plan for your cat.

🎉 ONE YEAR OF DAVIS FAMILY VETERINARY HOSPITAL! 🎉

One year ago on August 4, we opened our doors with a dream of creating a veterinary hospital where pets are treated like family, clients feel heard, and compassionate care and modern medicine go hand in hand.

And what a year it has been!

From the very first puppy kisses and kitten cuddles to senior pets, sick pets, surgeries, dentals, new diagnoses, preventive care, and everything in between — you have trusted us with the pets you love most, and we don't take that trust for granted.

To every client who has walked through our doors, recommended us to a friend, left us a review, shared a post, brought their pets in for care, or simply encouraged us along the way — THANK YOU. 🐾

Starting a veterinary hospital from the ground up has been an incredible, humbling, and sometimes challenging journey. But seeing the relationships we've built with our clients and their pets has made every bit of it worth it.

We are so incredibly grateful to be part of the Hendersonville community and to have the opportunity to care for your pets.

Here's to ONE YEAR of Davis Family Veterinary Hospital — and to many, many more! 🥳🐈‍⬛🦮🦜

Thank you for allowing us to be your family veterinarian. 🧡
