Buy the horse.
Seriously. Write the check.
Financially, it's a terrible investment. The truck, the trailer, the feed, the farrier bills, the vet calls, the entry fees—the math will never make sense.
But you aren't investing in a market.
You're investing in her.
You're buying gas station stops for drinks and snacks. You're buying the smell of diesel, leather, and fresh arena dirt. You're buying early mornings, late nights, and the grit it takes to climb back on after a bad run.
Then one day, you'll stand at the gate and watch your little girl take a deep breath, settle into her saddle, and ride into the arena with a confidence you helped build—but can no longer give her.
That's when it hits you.
Our children were never truly ours to keep. God simply entrusts them to us for a little while, asking us to love them, teach them, and prepare them to ride into this world with courage and faith.
One of the hardest parts of being a parent/coach is learning to let go.
It's standing at the mouth of the alleyway, watching your daugher disappear into the arena, trusting the foundation you've built, the horse beneath her, and the Lord above to guide her when she's moving faster than you ever could.
So if you're sitting on the fence wondering whether the empty wallet, the sleepless miles, and all the sacrifices are worth it...
Buy the horse.
Because one day, the trailer will stay parked. The arena lights will go dark. The saddle will hang a little longer between rides.
And you'd give every dollar you've ever earned just to walk beside her to that alleyway one more time.
The days are long.
The years are lightning fast.
Enjoy every ride. 🤍🙏
