November is pet diabetes awareness month!
We'd like to take a moment to bring light to this subject as it is a diagnoses we see in the veterinary field -- not just the human side.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of diabetes in pets is the first step. The link provided below will take you to the AVMA's guide on Diabetes in both cats and dogs. Early diagnoses and intervention is crucial.

When in doubt, we are always happy to answer and questions you may have about your pets health or their behavior at a scheduled visit.

Happy Saturday, NSAH friends. Our jokes aren’t the only scary thing about this time of year. A quick reminder about pet safety during the trick or treating season.

Have an ID on your pet, microchips are excellent for those who cannot keep a collar on. If your pet already has a microchip in place, be sure your information is updated in that system. Don’t know your pets number? Call us, we can help!

No sweets for your sweeties! Regularly tolerated cookies are just enough of a treat for your fur babies. Sugar free candies, chocolate, baked goods and other yummy HUMAN snacks can be extremely toxic to dogs and cats.

TREATS! Is your pet food driven? Would do many things for a kibble or two? Bring a few of your pets favorite snacks to your next appointment!
🚨 (As long as your appointment does not require a fast.)

Kibbles and bits are an awesome way to make their visit a little more enjoyable. CATS TOO. It’s great distraction, motivation and is a super easy change to make to your routine at the vet.

Keep your pets diets in mind, especially those with sensitivities and allergies.

🚨 It’s almost the Fourth of July again, furrends!

Now is a great time to start thinking ahead about you and your pets plan for the festivities ahead.

While some humans like big exploding lights in the sky, you can see how most of our pet friends do NOT.

The Fourth of July always brings waves of lost and injured dogs into our pet clinics every year. We can do a lot to prevent it.

Below is a link to the AVMA’s website for ideas on how to keep everyone calm and safe during this high stress time. Things as simple as placing an up to date version of I.D. on your pet, or behavioral therapy.

We honor ALL of those fallen. 🇺🇸

Today we honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving our country. We also recognize the incredible contributions of military dogs who have served alongside their human counterparts in protecting our freedom. These courageous dogs have saved countless lives and brought comfort to many service members. We remember and appreciate their service and sacrifice on this Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
