Rockin Reegan Horse Training From first rides to finished partners, I develop confident, willing horses through clear communication.

English and Western are just labels—balance, softness, collection, and impulsion are the foundation of every horse. At Rockin Reegan Horse Training I believe a good relationship between a horse and rider starts from the ground up. A mutual respect is created by doing solid groundwork that consists of a combination of sensitizing and desensitizing exercises. Once I begin riding a horse I build on the softness and responsiveness I started on the ground. I strive to help an owner understand how, when, and why I utilize different exercises with their horse to build a healthy working relationship between them. I grew up with a mother who did 3 day eventing and a lifelong cowboy father. This gave me a background with fundamental knowledge of several different English and Western disciplines. Watching my parents combine their knowledge to train horses taught me there is no one single way to get a job done and to approach every horse like the individual they are. This has lead to a passion to continue learning and bettering my skills as a horsewoman.

Re-teaching pressure and release

The truth is, I was hoping to be faster at our last big race and maybe win a little money. This sport is expensive, and when you don’t make any of it back, it’s easy to question things.

I definitely threw my sucker in the dirt and had a little pity party. 😂

But I also had to be honest with myself. I wear a lot of hats and have a lot of irons in the fire—riding everyone else’s horses, family obligations, and trying to work around the heat. Sometimes there really aren’t enough hours in the day…and sometimes I use that as an excuse too.

So I got back after it. 🔥 Focusing on my muscle memory, timing, and doing the work.

This sport can be mentally tough, but that fire came back pretty damn quick—and I’m already looking forward to our next chance to prove ourselves. 🐎🔥

🐴 Trailer loading doesn’t have to involve the trailer.

Before I expect her to confidently step into a trailer, she needs to be comfortable with all the little pieces that come with it.

⬆️ Stepping her front feet up while her hind feet stay down
↕️ Being comfortable with half her body up and half down
⬇️ Backing off and confidently stepping down with her hind end while keeping her front feet up.
