Eleven is turning eleven! 🥳🎉

My little muppet is celebrating her Gotcha Day/Adoptaversary today. I found her in 2017 on Petfinder when she was 2 years old through Heaven Can Wait Animal Society when her face stopped my scroll because she looked so similar to my childhood dog, so of course I adopted her.

She’s still our spunky pup who’s always down for a long walk, car ride adventure, or stealing food but his year we’re taking things a little slower, as she had a health scare only a week and a half ago. We noticed she wasn’t acting herself and in some discomfort and after a day of bloodwork, tests, and scans, the root cause of her initial issues weren’t found but they did discover that her Level 1 heart murmur we have been checking each year had grown very quickly and unexpectedly to a Level 4. She’ll now be on heart medication the rest of her life. The silver lining? We caught it much earlier than we would have if we waited for her next scheduled heart ultrasound so I am grateful for that.

I’m also grateful for 9 years of photos and memories I have of her documenting this milestone. Her face may have gone from jet black to powdered sugar these days, but she’s still my baby. Happy Birthday, sweet girl.

Bonnie girl forever living on the wall where she belongs.

This sweet little traveler has spent her whole life right by her parents’ side, and getting to create something this special for them felt like such an honor. We turned one of their favorite moments into a beautiful Metal Wall piece that truly shows her off, and it’s now the very first statement artwork in their home.

The beginning of a wall that will tell her story, piece by piece, just like she deserves.

Meet Raven.

Her parents had been talking about doing a session for the longest time, and finally decided to take the leap. Safe to say there were zero regrets.

Back in 2014, her dad was working with the Animal Cruelty Taskforce in Los Angeles when he was called out to rescue a tiny black puppy who had been dumped in a trash bin behind a hospital. That tiny puppy became Raven, and she became family.

Twelve years later, she is still here, still so loved, and finally got her moment in front of my camera.

These are the sessions that mean everything. The ones that hold a whole lifetime inside them.
