We are wrapping up Veterinary Technician Week!!! We may take this week to highlight our technicians, but we value them every day of the year!
AJ is our newest member of the team! She has worked as a client service representative at multiple different vet clinics and was ready to cross into the technician's side. She is learning quickly and is loving getting her hands dirty. With her history as a CSR her client communication is excellent and she's utilizing those skills to advocate for her patients. AJ spends her time at home corralling a black cat: Jormungandr, orange cat: Hamish, and tortishell cat: Kiki.
So, cheers to our technicians! Drop a comment below thanking them for all their hard work and dedication to all our pets!!!

Here are some words from Dr. Molly, "The veterinarians at Spring Meadow could not do their job without the help of our staff. You'll find them snuggling your pet while they receive their vaccinations. They hold their paws through blood draws. They monitor every breath while your pet is under anesthesia. They cheer when a problem has been fixed. And they cry over the losses. They truly make our days and our clinic better and we are so grateful for all their hard work. If you see one, thank them for all they do."

Today we are putting the spotlight on Stephanie.
Stephanie has been a long-time employee of SMAC! She heads up our food inventory to make sure we've got all the yummy snacks on hand for our patients. When she's working clinic hours you can catch her helping run anesthesia for our dental procedures and making sure our inventory is accurate. Stephanie's experience and organization keeps our team running smoothly. Outside of work Stephanie stays busy helping at her brother's auto shop and spending time with her family! She keeps busy with her dogs: Gus and Lucy, and cat: Squirrel.

Make sure to say hi to our amazing team and show them your appreciation the next time you are in the clinic. And sometimes actions speak louder than words. Fruit trays, coffee, and chips with dips are among the favorite appreciation tokens our clients have brought for our staff. But we know our technicians do the work they do because of their passion for helping animals.
Today we are featuring Jessica.
Jessica has been part of the SMAC team for 2 years. She makes sure that all our patients are cared for with the most compassion. Her attention to detail and commitment to patient care makes her an asset. Her go-getting attitude makes her one of the hardest workers in our clinic. Jessica's care extends to her own which includes dogs: Leetzi and Roger, cats: Critter, Jack, Charlie, Eleanor, Saber, and Zoey, and various reptilian and amphibious friends.
Drop us your favorite animal emojis in the comments!

As we continue celebrating our fabulous technicians, we thought it was important to share what our veterinarians have to say about their support staff.
Dr. Brenda believes, "Not all angels wear wings, some wear scrubs". Technicians are heart of healthcare, providing comfort, care, and compassion for all those around them; the animals, clients, and veterinarians.

Today we are highlighting Victoria!

Victoria has been a member of SMAC for five years. We are lucky to have her as part of our team. In addition to being a fabulous technician she shares her time up front and is often the first person you talk to when you call in. From the first interaction on the phone, to the moment your pet leaves, Victoria is crucial to the positive experience. Her care and compassion are unmatched. She is the proud pet mom of her horse Cash, dogs: Gunner, Gus, and June, cats: Ricky Bobby, Chester, LJ, and rats: Studebaker, and Hubert.

Veterinary Technician Week!!!!
Our Veterinary Technicians are the heart and soul of our practice. They are the right hand to our doctors. Their dedication and commitment to their patients make them heroes. Our technicians are nurses, lab techs, anesthesiologists, phlebotomists, groomers, nail techs, therapists, oral hygienists, educators, janitors, lunch ladies, receptionists, and pet lovers. This week will be showcasing each of our amazing technicians. We hope you get to know them and see how much they care for all the animals and people that they help.
First up this week is Kara.
Kara is our head tech and licensed technician. She has been workings with us since 2015. Since getting her veterinary technician license Kara has headed up our dental procedures and our sedated grooming. Kara makes sure to take extra time to explain these procedures and ensures that all our clients are well informed and can leave with peace of mind. Her communication and dedication make her the best leader for our team. Kara's fur family includes dogs: Alfie Glenjamin and Zoi and cats: Arthur, Lefty, and Ron.

Pet Obesity Awareness Day.
Did you know overweight pets are at a higher risk for certain health problems? Working with your veterinarian can help you develop a weigh management plan based on your pet's needs. It is not "one size fits all". Sometimes there can be medical reasons related to obesity in pets. An annual wellness exam is a great time to touch base with your veterinarian to ensure you are on the right track. Keeping your pet at an ideal weight will help them live a longer and healthier life!

Routine visits with the veterinary team help ensure pets are healthy and well. Although there are many types of veterinary visits, as pet owners, it is best to be prepared for what may or may not happen at those visits.

First thing's first, safety! All pets should be on a leash or in a carrier if possible. It never fails, if a pet gets loose, they WILL be scared and could escape or be injured. Those situations can be prevented by securing pets before entering the clinic. Use caution when walking into the clinic--there are likely other pets on the other side of the door. No one likes awkward meetings and neither do our pets.

It is important to remember, while you are waiting with your pet for your appointment or to see a staff member, your pet needs to stay secure and safe with you.

If your pet currently takes any medications, bring a list with you that also includes when those medications were last given.

And lastly, bring your patience. We try our hardest to stay on schedule, but with medicine there are sometimes unforeseen emergencies that will take priority. Our staff works hard to keep all our clients informed during these scenarios.

Great question! Diagnostic screening tests can act as an early warning system to uncover health issues before your dog shows signs of illness. Comparing test results from year to year also helps us to better understand your dog's individual health needs.
