Whether you’re just beginning your riding journey or looking to develop better balance, confidence, and communication with your horse, this four-week clinic is designed for you!
Join experienced horse trainer and riding instructor Renee Pipinich at Reining Horses Unlimited in Helena, Montana, for hands-on instruction focused on the fundamentals of good horsemanship.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Over four weeks, riders will work on essential skills that create a more confident, balanced, and effective partnership with their horse:
✔️ Balance & Body Position — Develop a secure, independent seat and improve your position in the saddle.
✔️ Posting at the Trot — Learn proper rhythm, coordination, and timing while posting.
✔️ Loping & Leads — Understand correct leads and develop confidence recognizing and riding them.
✔️ Guiding & Steering — Learn to communicate direction clearly and effectively.
✔️ Stopping & Transitions — Develop balanced, controlled stops and smoother transitions between gaits.
✔️ Riding Cues — Understand how your hands, legs, seat, and body communicate with your horse.
✔️ Timing & Feel — Learn when to ask, when to release, and how to recognize your horse’s response.

Dates: Four consecutive Saturdays
October 31, November 7, 14 & 21, 2026
Arena Opens: 10:00 AM for warm-ups
Instruction: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Indoor Arena — Enjoy riding and learning indoors, regardless of Montana’s fall weather!
Clinic Investment: $400 for the complete four-week clinic. $100 non-refundable deposit due at registration (Venmo - -pipinich)
HORSE REQUIREMENTS — PLEASE READ
This clinic is designed for green and beginning riders, not green horses.
Participants must provide their own suitable horse. Reining Horses Unlimited does not provide lesson or training horses for this clinic.
For the safety of riders, horses, and other participants, each horse must be:
• Healthy, with no signs of illness or injury
• Sound and physically capable of participating
• Mature, seasoned, and experienced under saddle
• Calm, predictable, and safe in a group riding environment
• Forgiving of beginner mistakes and responsive to basic riding cues
Horses should already be comfortable walking, trotting, loping, guiding, and stopping under saddle.
RIDER SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
For the safety of all participants, riders ages 13 and under are required to wear a properly fitted, ASTM/SEI-certified equestrian helmet while mounted.
Helmets are strongly encouraged for riders of all ages.
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT — NOT REQUIRED
The following equipment is recommended but not mandatory for participation in the clinic:
• Martingale — When appropriate for the horse and properly fitted.
• Protective Horse Boots — To provide additional leg protection during riding exercises.
These items are optional and are not required to attend the clinic.
