World Mental Health Day 💚

At You x 2, our sitters give so much more than their time. They celebrate the happy moments, comfort anxious pets, care for those who are sick, and grieve alongside families when it's time to say goodbye.

But caring so deeply can take an emotional toll. It's called compassion fatigue, and it's something we don't talk about enough in the pet care industry.

Our sitters spend their days taking care of everyone else's pets, but it's just as important that they take care of themselves.

Today is a reminder that rest, boundaries, and mental well-being matter. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's what allows you to keep showing up for those who depend on you.

Heads Up, Pet Parents! Hurricane Remnants Expected Saturday! 🌧️💨

The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to East Tennessee this weekend, with Saturday looking especially concerning.

Our You x 2 team will be keeping a close eye on the weather as we care for your pets!

A few reminders:
🐾 Outdoor time and walks may be shortened for everyone's safety.
🐾 Potty breaks may need to be adjusted during heavy rain or high winds.
🐾 Please make sure gates, fences, and outdoor items are secured before leaving town.
🐾 Weather-related delays may occur, but we'll communicate any necessary changes.

The safety of your pets and our sitters will always come first!

Stay safe, stay dry, and give those storm-anxious pups some extra love!

🐴 Trivia Thursday Answer: TRUE!

Did you know horses can sleep standing up AND lying down?

Horses have a special system of tendons and ligaments called the stay apparatus, which allows them to relax and doze while standing without falling over.

But here's the interesting part! 🐴

Horses need to lie down to get enough REM sleep, the deep stage of sleep associated with dreaming. They typically need around 30–60 minutes of REM sleep each day.

As prey animals, horses evolved to rest standing up so they could quickly escape danger. Lying down requires them to feel safe and comfortable in their surroundings.

So, the next time you see a horse stretched out in the pasture, don't panic! They may just be catching up on some much-needed beauty sleep.
