Hello from Daisys. What's been happening around the farm? Are ya dead and eaten by the pigs? No, Im here. I last commented about the burning up of the well pump and subsequent replacement for 2200.00 Next time it happens and there will be a next time, i'll watch them put the brand new pump in.

2 weeks ago my car transmission acted up and nearly left me in DC on the side of 50/301. I better call a friend I thought while sitting there. Friend??? Who is that? All mine are dead and buried except a couple who dont speak to me. Anyway made it home in 4hrs instead of 2. Sat in Ford dealership half a day Tuesday for 2300.00 to replace a clutch sensor. Lady said debit or credit? I busted out laughing and said charity please. I was laughing by myself.

I dont know how much more? Im nearly out of credit and cash dried up last year.

FLYS!!! By the hundred thousands. Sprayed them with Pyrethrins and they rolled on their backs dying laughing. Kept spraying for a week and nothing happened. WTH?? Then I decide to change the insecticide I'm using. Also location and time of Attack. Armed with new insecticide i head to my 3 areas that are full of flies. It is dark and the flies are roosting(hanging on the sides of roof rafters in the barn) I let the spray fly!!! and the flies start dropping by the hundreds and hundreds. After a couple more treatments I think I'll have the problem abated.

Lost a couple pigs these past 2 weeks. It's a daggone shame that the pigs fight thru a brutal winter only to succumb to the warm winds of spring/early summer. Life's not fair.

Trying to hold it together. Run water hoses all day so the pigs have cold water all the time. My 70 something old body dont work like it used to. Seems like everyday is harder than yesterday.

Ah well if you can donate food please do. Its very difficult having no one to turn to for help. We are here til we arent.

In September of 2025, my fiancee, Sherry Baker, gave me a Havapoo puppy that she had gotten from a Rescue in Pennsylvania and had named her Re*****on. I didn't want another dog as mine had just passed but I conceded.

However, it wasn't long before Re*****on captured my heart and a very strong bond of love and loyalty formed. Loved this little girl more than most animals I've ever had in my lifetime put together. There was just something about her that entered my soul. She voluntarily never, ever, left my side all day and had her place in my bed at night. She guarded me. She always kept watch over me. Her antics kept me laughing all day and night. Zoomies, fetching toys, eating pine cones, beating up cats twice her size, chasing cats and them chasing her, herding piggies, chasing birds and
squirrels, you just name it, she was into it.

Wednesday March 25th she started throwing up any liquid she drank. Omg she just turned 360 degrees becoming ill. Stopped eating, threw up more and more drinking or not, blood became noticeable from her re**um. Thursday the 26th I started looking for a Vet and all I heard is "we are NOT taking any new patients". Finally was directed to The Guardian Group in Pittsville Maryland, a true veterinary hospital for animals with a Vet on staff.These folks have a modern hospital with every conceivable piece of equipment to run every conceivable test on your pet. Stat, right on site and machines to keep that same pet alive. No need to send test medium out for analysis, was all done here, right on site. Besides all that, these folks seemed to really care. Offered to let me sit with Re*****on the whole time in triage thru everything except the Xrays, which I did.They answered all my questions and provided me all the info they could with immediate test results.

Bill from the start for tests was $2000.00 and after 4 hours I was presented with test results. The whole time I was sure the problem was an intestinal blockage and with some surgery would recover. I met with the Dr and she told me the worst news possible. Re*****on's kidneys had failed, had Pancreatitus and that she could admit her for 3 days and try to treat the kidney problem but that she would likely die during the first treatment. She went on to say she was in a lot of pain, surgery may still be needed to find what the internal bleeding was from and that she was nearly blind in her left eye. Never realized that before so it must have happened due to her failing body

She recommended I just let Re*****on go to sleep. She left me holding her in a private room for an hour thinking what I wanted to do. I wanted to just take her home but that wasn't the best choice for Re*****on. Needless to say I was crying so hard, uncontrollably, I couldn't help myself. I was a basket case and all I could see is Re*****on looking at me saying "daddy please don't let them kill me" 😪.

Well I made the decision and a half hour later carried Re*****on's lifeless body in the house one last time. I had a long conversation with her and took her outside and buried her next to the Pecan Tree she liked to sit under.

Her passing has left me with an indescribable loneliness and broken heart. Not from being alone but being alone without her. I just killed the best animal friend i think I've ever had. She never asked for nothing but love. A forever home with all the love she can get.

Im 2nd guessing myself daily. Did I really do the right thing by allowing the end of her life. Should I have spent $5000 more dollars i didnt have to try treatment? The Dr. Said it was the right decision to end her suffering but was it? I'll never know for sure. Everyday I ask her forgiveness with teary eyes. No matter what I'll always feel that I killed my girl and that's totally unacceptable to me. Still I cry

Daisys marches on. Down to 2-3 donations a month. Never, ever thought this but it's okay. We have lasted a long time. If you love animals remember those rescues and Sanctuarys can not survive without help. It's not the folks that are going above and beyond that suffer, it's the animals they're trying to help that will suffer. Ever since I got into this, I took success or failure personally like it was my fault. So many sleepless nights, so many times failure steered my life, so many opportunities I've missed in the last 7 years of my life.

Well, if I don't get any donations to speak of then I can't go on. Love doesn't buy food, pay electric bills and provide the basic necessities for those in my care.

Frustrating? Sad? Very.

Hello troops❤

Here we are nearly at the last week of February. Snow storm forecast again, hope they continue their lousy forecasting and it's rain instead. Either way am tired of the whole works now.

Everything is still on an even keel at the Sanctuary. We have loads of straw but are always accepting deer corn and pig pellets and can't seem to keep over a week in stock before we're out again. Nobody said life was going to be easy tho. Electric bill has been high too. This year I learned my lesson and kept all the outside faucets running with a small stream of water during those bitter days and nights. Kept one dripping as a test and it froze the first night so stream it was. It kept all the underground water lines open

Tax season is here again I heard. I've posted a copy in case you ever need it. It has the old address on it but the rest is correct.

Here we are into the 1st week of February 2026. For every Sanctuary/Rescue its been hell on earth from January 2026 to present. Everything frozen, below 0 wind chills, icy ground, constant falling, sprained muscles and bones, just not a good time to be the single most important being on the farm. Without you everything else ceases to function. Quite a responsibility if you think about it. It's been so cold water freezes within an hour of putting it in the water dishes. I have 2 100 gallon water containers that I keep full in case of underground water lines freezing. Several nights they froze up to 12" thick requiring pick axe and sledge hammer intervention. My diesel truck wont start in below 32 degree temps and my car was stuck in the icebergs and snow for 10 days. Trying times to say the least, thinking South Florida the most.

On the food side some of you came to the rescue. I was out a couple of times and you sent money, pig food, straw, hope and love. It was a Godsend and I'm forever thankful and greatful to each and everyone of you who took the time to hear our cry and come to the rescue. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! With us it's feast or famine. I either have 2 more weeks of food or I'm flat out. No in betweens

Which reminds me. I've got 10-12 days of pig pellets left, 30 bales of straw and I bought 40 bags of corn last Wednesday with rescue money that you donated and we had an anonymous donation of food and straw last week also. So on our "Needs List" we need pig pellets. It would be great if you could call and order straight from the mill or if youd like me to do it you can donate to us and I'll order it. Last day to order is no later than Tuesday of next week.

Well thats about it. Looks like the coldest air this winter has arrived and will be leaving soon. Weee weeeee.

Ive been sick since Wednesday morning at 5am. Snow and alot of it. Not a nice term when you have custody of Gods creatures that need to be cared for no matter what the weather is. Frozen water lines for the next 2 weeks with sub 32 degree temps everyday and some single digits at night. Can it get much worse?

I also realize there are caretakers probably worse off than me and I feel for them. I know what it takes to do this and under the best of circumstances is far from easy alone

Anyway, we're off into 6 years here and were operating 2 years before facebook. It's been quite the ride. One thing that can be said is I didn't fail for the likes of trying.

Last week, tuesday I was nearly out of corn. I had hoped someone may have called the feedstore. As Wednesday closed and the sun went down I didn't get that hoped for delivery. I ran out of corn a day later and my wallet was also bare. Not surprising in the dead of winter. Just reinforces the fact I have alot on my plate

In spite of all, pigs have endured this attack on their lives. Every night that I lay my head down I think of the pigs trying to get warm but never coming close, cats with nose discharge frozen to their cheeks. I like to think I still make some kind of difference around here.

Well that's about it until the storm hits. Still praying for rain. Im hoping with this morning forecast of snow, ice then rain the tide has turned. I had over 12" of snow here already one year past. My car was stuck for over a week, tractor and truck both broke. Took 3 days to shovel to the pigs. Yikes. This time I do have my truck but my tractor is DOA

Daisy's here. Weather is beautiful for a change. Wow!! Someone sent us 10 bales of straw and 8 bags of pellets on the feed truck today plus had to pay the delivery charge on top of that to get it here. Whomever that kind soul is I wanted to say Thank you. Doesn't sound like much but when you don't have much it sure is. That's a huge donation of $200.00.

For right at this moment with this donation we are good on straw for a while so there's no use to send us anymore. It's not too often you'll hear me say those words
