Introducing Velma, one of our newest residents with personality plus. Velma is unabashedly flirtatious and friendly. She is all about the belly rubs, kisses and attention. Thank you to wonderful volunteer Mark for accomodating Velma's wishes. In addition to these charms, Velma has buckets of energy. She is looking for an adopter who is in for lots of playtime and activity. So much about finding a canine love match is choosing the right energy level dog. We have plenty of calm dogs, happy to shate your Netflix subscription. If you enjoy outdoors, walks, teaching dogs new and challenging thing Velma may be the girl for you! We believe she may be Australian Cattle/ Blue Heeler/ Husky but that is a guess. Velma is a little over a year and a half old, with stunning merle coloring and a twinkle in her eye.

Crumpet is swinging by to make sure her most amazing markings get seen! Crumpet is Fondue's sister and she wants to share the spotlight Fondue got yesterday in our previous post. Crumpet is not one to wait in the shadows while her brother gets attention. 😊 Crumpet is 11 weeks old, with a captivating face and lots of playful pizazz and curiosity. The kittens around the same age have daily play groups. For extra fun, adopt two together for built in playmate buddies and just one adoption fee.

This fetchingly handsome boy is Fondue. He is 11 weeks old and one of a myriad of kittens we have available to steal your heart. He is a little more low key them some of our kittens, but still playful and happy. Fondue has a sister, Crumpet, that is part of his play group. Their sister, Croissant pulled on someone's heartstrings and has been adopted.. A huge thank you to the adopter! Have a lovely life with your new companion. Fondue is hoping to meet his own human love match soon. If you are considering two kittens you can adopt two kitty friends for one adoption fee. Staff and volunteers know which kittens play together and are great matches!

It may be storming tonight, but earlier in the day our very own Elton John was having a magnificent time in the play yard with toys and a kiddie pool. Elton John is a free spirit and happy natured. Truth be told, he does not walk well on a leash at all. We all have something we need to work on and Elton's is his leash walking skills ( or, rather, his lack of them) But his joyful ways and lack of concern what others think of him makes up for it. Elton seems to like every person he crosses paths with and appears open to friendships with other dogs.

COURTESY POSTING: We are sharing ths for our friends at Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond and a shelter in the region. This dog was lost during a transport in the Bowling Green region of Caroline County/ Fort A.P area, on his way to a foster home. The dog is a very timid dog and should not be chased.

UPDATE: REUNITED!! 💙

🚨 LOST SHELTER DOG ON TRANSPORT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

6/14 PM Update: A possible sighting around noon near cross streets of Lakewood Rd and AP Hill Blvd.

6/12 AM Update: No further sightings since 3:30 PM on 6/10. He was near the water tower traveling East.

Pluto was lost during transport while on his way to his foster home and was last spotted near Fort A.P. Hill.

Pluto is skittish and will run if approached. Please do not call, chase or approach. He is people and dog friendly.

If you see Pluto, please note the location, direction of travel, and time of sighting, then call the Caroline County Dispatch Center: (804) 633-5400.

Animal Control and the local shelter have been notified and are aware of the situation.

Please share, especially with friends, family, and community groups in Caroline County, Bowling Green, Ladysmith, and the Fort A.P. Hill area. Every sighting helps us track Pluto safely. 🐾❤️

The Friends of Northumberland County Animal Shelter is HIRING a part time THRIFT SHOP MANAGER! The Thrift Shop Manager is Responsible for the overall operation of the Friends of the Northumberland County Animal Shelter (FNCAS) Thrift Shop, in Burgess, Virginia.
The Thrift Shop Manager's job includes facility management and daily operations of the shop, inventory, facility, and financial management. The Thrift Shop Manager supervises volunteers; oversees pricing, online sales, outreach, and donation processing. Ensures quality customer service. Salary is negotiable.
The FNCAS Thrift Shop generates proceeds to assist our shelter dogs and cats by paying for medical procedures including numerous treatments for heartworm positive dogs, enrichment items such as fencing for our play yards and special diet cat food and dog food

With the post we did yesterday about recent parvo cases in the Northern Neck and the importance of DHLPP immunizations we got some questions regarding Pet Vet Clinics. If you do not have a veterinarian or are only off work on Sundays, this is a great way to get immunizations. ( fees for services) No appointment necessary but you can schedule an appointment online. vippetcare.com We are listing hours for Gloucester Tractor Supply PetVet clinic and Kilmarnock Tractor Supply PetVet Clinic. These hours are online but best to call and confirm before heading there. PLEASE NOTE: Gloucester appears to be every Sunday for the next 5 weeks, 4:00 to 5:30 and Kimarnock is every other Sunday, 1:00 to 2:30

We have so many kittens just waiting to pull heartstrings of their human love matches. For twice the fun and built in playmates adopt two for just one adoption fee. If you are thinking of adopting two our managers or volunteers can tell you which ones are housed together or play togetger regularly. Here is just a snippet of some of the cuties in the cat room this morning. Making an appearance in the video.are Cosmos, Eclipse and Orion ( males) and Stella ( female) Their sibling, Nova, who has long hair, missed out on screen time as she was on the lower level of the condo! There was a hubbub of activity as wonderful volunteers Lin, Dave and Kathleen got everyone cleaned and fed. We are delighted to introduce kittens or cats to you!
