Over the next few days we are going to be posting pictures of our shelter pups' day out yesterday Tractor Supply Co.Thank you Tractor Supply for always welcoming us! First up are Rina and Marmaduke, escorted by wonderful volunteers Stacey and Fulvio. Rina and Marmaduke got along beautifully and rode in the car well. They greeted people enthusiastically and we want to thank all that stopped to say hi. The socialization and exposure to new people is wonderful for our shelter dogs. A huge thank you to young dog advocate Aria for purchasing pup cups for them! They were a big hit!
RINA- appears to be a lab mix, at a year still quite the puppy herself. Rina was spayed in August through the generosity of Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck Thank you, A.W.L! Rina is playful, energetic and enthusiastic. She is about 57 pounds.
MARMADUKE-is 17 weeks old, sturdy, playful and gregarious. His mom is Tink. Tink was also at the event, enjoying her empty nest stage

If you are out and about today, Saturday, September 12th, take a few minutes to stop by and say hi to these wonderful shelter pups, all looking for their human lovematch. Volunteers will be at Tractor Supply Co. for their Harvest Day, with Tink, Elton John, Simba, Grace, Rina, Autumn and Marmaduke, for Tractor Supply's Harvest Day. Volunteers are happy to answer any questions about our shelter dogs and kitties or volunteering. Harvest Day is 10:00 to 2:00 but volunteers and the dogs they are escorting will be there at different points of those hours. (Tink has scheduled a grand arrival around 11:30 as she likes to keep her calendar organized) All these dogs have so much love to give. The shelter will also be open 11:00 to 2:00 today, Saturday, to meet dogs and cats not out at the event.

Volunteers will be escorting these six ever so fun, engaging dogs to Tractor Supply Co.( 615 N.Main Street, Kilmarnock) for their Harvest Day event, tomorrow, Saturday, September 12th. Clockwise they are Tink, Elton John, Marmaduke, Simba, Rina and Autumn. If any of them seem to calling to your heart, there is more info about each of them on our website .friendsncas.org The hours for Tractor Supply's Harvest Day are 10:00 to 2:00 but the dogs will arrive at different times throughout that time frame. If you are out and about on this Saturday please stop by and say hi. Please look for these charming faces both outside and inside the store. You may even see some having a stroll up Main Street Kilmarnock! All six of these pups are hoping to pull on some heartstrings and find a forever home

Elton John had the absolutely lovely experience of being away from the shelter, being fostered by wonderful volunteer Jackie and her family. Jackie lives near the water so Elton John was in his element. E.J so enjoys the kiddie pool in the shelter play yards. He is among our most enthused pups in the kiddie pools. Thank you to Jackie and family for fostering Elton! He came back with lots of accolades. He rode beautifully in the car, did well in a crate and was his usual effervescent personality about toys. He is thrilled with toys.
Elton seems to like every person he crosses paths with and appears open to friendships with other dogs. Jackie and her family have two other dogs. Elton totally enjoyed them. The caveat is Elton John's off switch takes a little longer to activate than some other dogs. Hence, Jackie's dogs were ready to move on and take a nap and for Elton it was still game on! Perhaps Elton's dog lovematch is another high energy, play till you drop pup. A high energy person would fit the bill too! Elton John is 45 pounds and three years old. He has been neutered through the generosity of Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck Thank you A.W.L! This boy is happy natured, playful and unencumbered by anyone's opinion of him. He truly is a joyful fellow who will be a wonderful companion when he finds his forever home.
Northumberland County Animal Shelter is open to meet our cats and dogs on Monday 11:00 to 3:00; Thursday 11:00 to 3:00 and Saturday 11:00 to 2:00. We are happy to introduce them other times, by appointment, by calling the shelter at 804 580 6156. Scheduling an appointment is a fabulous way to meet some of our dogs or cats. You can mention when you call for an appointment, the personality and energy level of your ideal companion and get some one on one attention when you arrive!

We are very much looking forward to October 3rd. ( 6:00 to 10:00 p.m) Easy Wind is a wonderful, outdoor venue in the Northern Neck and a fabulous place to relax and hear great music while supporting Northumberland County Animal Shelter!

These handsome siblings would be thrilled to find a forever home together! Kane and Keegan are 14 week old brothers and BFF's . Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck provides certificates to cover the cost of neutering at local veterinarians. Thank you, A.W.L! It truly is a joy to see two kitties romping and playing together, then settling in for a nap. And of course, two cute faces greeting you when you arrive home. These handsome fellows are available for a single adoption fee, and then, let the fun begin!

What a pleasure to meet Liam, 12, and his sister Inga, 9, and see their commitment to shelter cats and dogs! These wonderful siblings celebrated their birthdays recently. Instead of birthday gifts, they asked their friends to donate food, treats, toys for the shelter kitties and pups. Thank you ever so much, Inga and Liam! The shelter residents will so enjoy your donations. That was so very kind and thoughtful of you. What a lovely way to celebrate your birthdays.

Shiloh has a warm spot in all the hearts of staff and volunteers. Here he is pictured with wonderful volunteer Marcie. Thank you to our dear shelter friend Ann DeMuth Rescue Dog Photography for the photo! As much as we all love Shiloh, our wish for him is a forever home where he is cherished and feels safe. This exceedingly handsome boy is 61 pounds and 3 or 4 years old. Shiloh has been neutered through tne generosity of Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck Thank you A.W.L! Shiloh is a quiet, gentle fellow that takes his time warming up. After living outside for quite some time in a previous life, he values the pleasures of routine and being warm and out of the elements. He will be thrilled to have a quiet home, free of chaos, where he can curl up near his person. Shilo bears no ill will to anyone but he will be happiest, we believe, in a home without little kiddos. As much as we love them, little ones come with noise and hectic ways. Shiloh would so enjoy a calm home with loving humans he can count on. If Shiloh tugs at your heartstrings we will be delighted to introduce him. Perhaps a few visits to spend time with him and start a connection would be ideal. Shiloh has so much love and loyalty to give!

If you do not have a veterinarian or are only off work on Sundays, there is a PetVet clinic tomorrow, Sunday, Sept.6 at both the Kilmarnock Tractor Supply and Gloucester Tractor Supply. See below for the hours for the clinics ( different hours for the two clinics) This is a convenient way to get immunizations for your cats or dogs, microchipping, tests, heartworm and flea and tick prevention and routine wellness checks etc ( fees for services) It is possible to pre register, but walk ins are accepted. No appointment needed. There are PetVet Clinics at some other, but not all Tractor Supplies.
