Our new online store went live today at www.marinebiosystems.com We have been selling through ebay for several years and have become the best selling sump kits on that platform by a wide margin. While ebay has been good to us, it has several shortcomings that we hope to improve upon through our own online store. First and foremost we won't be constrained by ebay's limited listing options. We are focused on making the product you need, not a canned product that you have to make work. This is a work in progress and many of our products are not listed yet, but the ones that are have more options and easier avenues for customization. These are things we simply could not offer easily through ebay's constrained listing system. We encourage you to go check it out. Be sure to check back frequently as we will be expanding it significantly in the coming weeks. If you have any comments or suggestions on making the site better we'd love to hear them.

We are now making baskets designed to replace 4" filter socks. They're tested to fit our kits, but should fit in any sump with standard 4" filter sock holes. We're making them in two styles - 4 mm hole mesh baskets and solid with bottom holes and included 20 PPI 1" thick filter media. They are available in 3" and 6" heights.

It's been awhile since our last post and we have been very busy here building out sump kits and developing new products. Shown here is our new LaserSeries kit. It's currently available for 20 gallon long Aqueon® and Imagitarium™ tanks. As the name suggests, this kit is cut on our new laser cutter and is designed to be the lowest cost kit of it's kind on the market. Like most laser cut kits, it features keyed/interlocking parts, 10" tall baffles, 6.25" - 10" water level adjustment, two 4" sock holes and it can be assembled in left or right hand orientation. It has three inlet holes for 1" PVC pipe with caps to cover unused holes and it includes two sock silencers and media risers to support media in the bubble trap section. We also include a 10 page illustrated instruction guide to help complete the assembly. Priced at $84.95 with free shipping you won't find a better deal anywhere.

As many of you know, Petco is moving from Aqueon brand tanks to their own Imagitarium house brand. We’ve picked up several of the most common sizes and will begin offering kits for them immediately.

We are now producing kits with a removable filter foam plate instead of a filter sock holder for those who prefer this method of mechanical filtration. We have made several of these kits as custom builds over the years. Now you can grab one as a standard product. Like our standard sock based kits, these are built upon order so you can customize them with the number of inlets, left or right orientations and with or without a premade pipe kit. The lid also features our unique internal o-ring seals which provides the benefits of a bulkhead without the wasted space needed to accommodate them. We have the 5 chamber 20 gallon long version available now and will be adding many more sizes/options over the next few days.

Here's another awesome custom build. This one makes great use of the extra real estate in a Marineland 125 gallon tank. Inlet water is fed in from both ends with the return chamber in the middle of the tank. One side is the refugium chamber, the other side is for equipment. Both sides feature dual 7" filter socks, a full width blind interlocking sock baffle for easy assembly and they have independent water level adjustment.

Here's a nice example of a custom build. The customer had a non-standard glass display tank which he repurposed as a sump. Based off his measurements we made a custom intake baffle, adjustable weir/depth baffle, a bubble trap with media supports, and custom inlet and return section lids. Some unique features to this build include the use of 1/2" acrylic for some of the baffles to minimize bowing (it's a 23" wide tank), blind drilled and tapped holes for the media support plate, recessed bulkhead holes in the lid so they sit flush, lid reinforcements to minimize bowing and a custom mounting setup for a Neptune Systems liquid level sensor. Finally, the bubble trap section has a custom lid system to prevent salt creep as the water passes through it.

We're starting to produce our new ultimate kits for converting Aqueon glass aquariums into sumps and refugiums. These kits utilize a new integrated sealing system into the lid assembly which seals the inlet pipes without the need for huge bulkheads. This allows us to keep salt creep to a minimum while maintaining a small footprint for the inlet section of the tank. While these will work with any standard 1" PVC pipe, we are including special cut down pipes and 1" slip/slip couplers so everything you need except the tank, silicone and filter socks you'll need to get this up and running is in the box.

Available now in 4 chamber or 5 chamber configurations for 20 gallon long tanks. Other sizes coming soon or up request.
