Nitro's surgery went very well! They were able to close up his gums and now he's home resting. He'll be on 4 medications...

Nitro's surgery went very well! They were able to close up his gums and now he's home resting. He'll be on 4 medications for the next 2 weeks, but he's going to love being on soft food during that time. 😂

Please send positive thoughts our way for Nitro.

Nitro was playing with his friend Buzz and they collided. The blunt trauma of the impact caused an injury much worse than I expected. He suffered gingival avulsion, meaning his gums are pulled completely away from the underlying bone.

He is going in for surgery on Thursday to close his gums, and will be on antibiotics for 2 weeks - possibly longer if the vet thinks he should be.

This is why it's SO IMPORTANT to teach your dog proper play etiquette. Your dog needs to know when to be gentle, ease up, or leave the other dog alone entirely. Buzz is a sweet boy but he never learned how to "turn off". Please socialize your dog with other dogs so that they understand how to interact safely. 😬
