Hank the dog is ready to kerplop in a new home!
Meet Hank!
Hank is a purebred Boxer and is around 7 years old! He is not neutered!
This older man is going to need a home prepared to take on a senior Boxer that is entering his true golden years!
Hank grew up on a farm and in true boxer fashion, became a guardian of his property. He has never hurt anyone, but we were told he would bark at strangers when they pulled up to the house as a form of intimidation. He can be a little weary of new people at first, but once he gets the chance to sniff you over, he is a good buddy and will trot alongside you. We have been able to handle Hank just fine out here, but have noticed he isn’t very fond of hands grabbing around his neck and back area (his blind spots) while he’s still getting to know you.
If you come out and see Hank, you might think he is neutered however, he is NOT. Hank does have a condition called cryptorchidism. This is when one or both te**es fail to drop down into the sc***um. In Hank’s case, neither of his te**es dropped thus making him appear neutered.
He does have a couple skin growths on his body that we are checking out.
And we do see that he has a hematoma on one of his ears. It appears that he has had it for a while and isn’t bothering him, but we again we are keeping a close eye on it.
Hank did live with three smaller dogs and dood great with them! We were told he is not a fan of other large dogs, but he has not been negatively reacting to any of his neighbors so far. We would strongly recommend a meet and greet with other small dogs and would require a meet and greet with medium/large dogs.
Absolutely no cats for Hank!
He has never had an issue with children, men, or women other than the initial stranger alert when he first meets you.
Given his older age and the fact that he will need to go through a decompression process in his new home, we would recommend a home with no small children who cannot give him personal space.
Hank has been given his first round of vaccines out here as well. And he has had some degree of training in his previous home. He was also fully housebroken; however, his owner transitioned Hank to being a mostly outdoor dog in the time period leading up to Hank being surrendered out here to us. So it's uncertain exactly how firmly Hank is still potty trained at this point. We are confident that with the right guidance, Hank will fall back into the routine of things!
Hank is a very good boy who just needs a soft place to land for his golden years.
