🚨 Security Alert 🚨

It has come to my attention that Equinox and Cosmo have spent the evening systematically chewing a piece of bamboo into what can only be described as a prison shank.

I don’t know what their end goal is. I don’t know who they’re mad at. I don’t know if I’m the target.

What I do know is that they worked on it with an alarming level of focus and teamwork. One would chew, the other would inspect. Then they’d switch roles like tiny furry inmates with a well established operation.

The weapon has been confiscated, but both suspects remain uncooperative and continue to stare at me as if they know where I sleep.

If I suddenly stop posting, please tell the authorities to start their investigation with Equinox and Cosmo.

For legal purposes, this is a joke.

For survival purposes, I wish I was joking.

Today we recognize Juneteenth National Independence Day, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth honors the day when the last enslaved African Americans learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

It is a day to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate progress, and continue striving toward a future built on equality, unity, and opportunity for all.

$5 Friday

First, thank you.

We had several people step up for the gliders yesterday, and we are incredibly grateful for every donation, share, comment, and word of encouragement. It all matters, and it truly helps keep us moving forward.

That said, we still need support.

We currently have 23 dental cases left to work through. These cases have consumed nearly all of our resources, and we have been pouring everything we have into getting them treated and moving them through the system. Because of the overwhelming number of dental cases, we remain closed to most intakes except for select situations.

Some days it feels like we’re barely making a dent in the mountain in front of us.

While we’re focused on these dentals, the rest of the rescue doesn’t stop. We still have food to buy, cages to maintain, supplies to replace, veterinary expenses outside of the dental cases, transportation costs, and all of the day to day expenses required to keep Sugar Haven Rescue operating.

With more than 21,000 followers, if just a small fraction of our community donated $5, it would make an enormous difference. Five dollars may not feel like much on its own, but when many people come together, it has the power to change everything for these gliders.

Hey Sugar Haven Family!

We wanted to provide a small update on the dental cases currently in our care.

At this time, we still have 23 gliders requiring dental work before they can begin the next chapter of their lives and find the loving forever families they deserve. Of those 23, Dallett is scheduled for his dental procedure next week. We are currently $230 short of covering the cost of his appointment through our dental fund.

We have also officially run out of donated items for our dental fundraisers and auctions. If you are a vendor or owner and would like to donate items for an upcoming auction or fundraiser, please send us a message.

Every donation, no matter the size, directly helps provide the medical care these gliders so desperately need.

The support of this community has already changed so many lives, and we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for helping us continue to give these gliders the chance at a healthy future.

🎶 A little something different from Sugar Haven Rescue! 🎶

Some of you know Leah through rescue, some have heard her play music over the years, and some may not even know she sings at all.

Leah recently launched a new page, Leah Tower Music, where she’ll be sharing acoustic cover songs, upcoming performances, and more.

🌟 Volunteers Needed: Could Use Some Extra Hands! 🌟

We could really use some extra hands right now at Sugar Haven Rescue in Haverhill, MA.

🧹 Ongoing Need: Daily Cleaning & Maintenance

We are looking for local volunteers who can help with day to day cleaning and maintenance around the rescue. Having extra help with these routine tasks would allow us to accomplish so much more for the gliders in our care.

🌈 Saturday: Providence PrideFest

We will be set up in Providence all day and could use additional volunteers to help at our booth throughout the event.

🚚 Sunday at 10:00 AM: Cage Delivery

Our cage delivery was unfortunately rescheduled to Father’s Day, which I know may make it difficult for many people to help.

Our actual need is simple. We are looking for a couple of people who can help unload the cages from the transport crates on the trailer when they arrive. With a couple of extra hands, it should only take about 30 minutes.

As for the cage expansion project itself, we will likely need to wait until the following weekend, as we know Father’s Day will make it difficult for many people to stay and help with a larger project. However, if enough people do happen to show up and want to help, we’re absolutely ready to start working on those upgrades.
