Just living the Good Life -- this is Sienna and Dream -- in their retirement home in New Jersey. Mom (Claire) says they love their long walks (and Dad gets lots of exercise too). The Finley family drove here to pick them up and it has been a wonderful place for them to call home.

A family in the St Louis area has just taken on a 3rd or 4th T-Bar male puppy. This little one is Bear and Mom (Jody) says he went to be vet checked and weighs 22 pounds. Sounds like a good start to me but he has a long way to go (those before him have been extra large labbies so Bear will need to keep eating well. Thanks to the Capdeboscq family for sharing their super home with another T-Bar fella.

I just received a note from David Oliver saying his family has lost a special friend -- 13 year old Sam. He was a handsome fellow however, he did not like water or fetching toys. He much preferred prancing around the yard following the children. Dad says he was a very loving lab and the Oliver children and all their friends were always happy to have him coming to meet them. As always, this is a very sad loss for the family and Dad says it leaves a hole in their home.

I have received a note from David Oliver with the sad news that Sam -- their lab of 13 years -- went home yesterday. Sam was a handsome guy but he did not like water or fetching toys. He much preferred prancing around the yard and following the children. He loved everyone and the Oliver kids and all their friends were happy when he came to greet them. Dad says there will be a definite hole in their home. I know how all of you can understand his words.

This is an update on Nalu Lehman out in Colorado. Mom sends this photo and says she has been for her first vet check in her new hometown and while there, she signed up for free puppy training classes. I'm sure that was Mom's idea and not Miss Nalu's. She has been socializing with Boulder residents and getting such wonderful compliments. Most recently she was at a Boulder Band concert where they played all American songs. This photo shows the first trick she has learned ----- "Sit" . Nalu, you definitely are a good representation of the breed and you make me mighty proud.

There are many great labradors -- and then there is Pepper Hall over in Missouri. He's just barely six months old and is quite a showstopper. But then, he is a grandson of King Cole who lives with Jo Pralle in Arizona, a great grandson of Sir Teddy and a great great grandson of Ch Teddy Bear Too. It makes me proud to see the lineage holding true and Mom (Terrie) says he's wonderful so -- I'm going to go with that.

There was a really fun time last week when the Goetting family from Weir Kansas drove down seemingly for another reason but.... the fun part was a surprise for their son's 15th Birthday. The young man (Henry) was all smiles when he realized he was getting a puppy. Mom sends this photo from their home where I see 15 candles on a super-looking birthday cake. The new puppy's name is Willie (and he may have just shared a piece of cake too.. Happy 15th to you, Henry ---- and I know you will have a wonderful life.

We are thinking of the Putnam family right now as they had to say good-bye to their special girl -- Zoey. She would have been 13 next month. Mom says she was very normal acting on Saturday and then on Sunday it was such a different story. The diagnosis was pancreatic cancer and it took her quickly. Mom (Marge) says she was perfect. She loved to go for walks, she never barked, and -- she loved everyone. I know most of you have suffered some of the same and understand how devastated the family is right now.

Friday was a big day here for little Pearl. The Sipple family drove from Dallas (in quite a lot of rain) to take Pearl back home with them. Her new "Big Sister" rode along to help welcome Pearl to the family. I understand Piper and Pearl took an early morning walk and Pearl got to meet the neighbors. The one thing I am absolutely positive is that Pearl and Piper are special in this home. Wonderful parents.

I'm going to try my post that was taken down one more time. Someone has said there was a small print under photo saying business. This person believes it was misconstrued as a business ad. I would never have thought that but then again, I'm not up to date with facebook. So. I'm going to try again arranged a little differently. Here goes: The photo here is a black girl who is living the good life in California. Her name is Sophia and she has a story to tell that is rather unusual. I'll attach her photo and then continue with story -- trying to set it up differently from my first try. I think Sophia is 6 years now and her eyes have seen a lot.

About 6 years ago I had a call from a nice lady asking to come here that day and look for a black lab female. I think it was a weekend and I had to tell her I was already booked for the day with others coming. She told me then that their plane needed some repair and they had stopped in Kansas City to have it done and had thought they would come here while they waited. She nicely thanked me and of course I didn't recognize her name.

After a few days I had a phone call from her and she asked whether I could fly a puppy to her in California and of course I said that was no problem. She chose one from photos I sent and I the labbie to her. And, she named her Sophia. As time went on and she wrote occasionally I learned Sophia was flying with her as she made trips to their farm in Kentucky. She still didn't tell me anything about the farm. Some time later she mentioned it was for racing horses and called Spendthrift Farms. Bit by bit she shared enough info that I was told her husband was Wayne Hughes and then learned one of their horses would be running in that year's Kentucky Derby. Of course I watched and she had told me the horse's name was "Authentic"..... and you may know the rest of the story. Authentic won many awards and the icing on the cake was when he crossed the finish line as the Kentucky Derby winner. It certainly is something most of only get to watch on TV and I'm sure Sophia got to join in the really exciting celebrations. I'm attaching a photo of him leading the way to the finish line.
