🐾💜 Happy Veterinary Technician Week to the incredible hearts behind PetCare Animal Hospital! 💜🐾

They say, “Every great vet has a vet tech who makes them look good.” And I can tell you firsthand, truer words have never been spoken. ❤️

Behind every successful surgery, every comforting touch, every wagging tail, and every pet that gets to go home feeling better is a team of people who pour their hearts into what they do.

Our veterinary technicians and support team are so much more than the extra set of hands that keeps our hospital running. They are the calm in the chaos, the reassuring voices, the gentle hands that hold a frightened pet, and the compassionate hearts that love our patients like their own.

They celebrate the victories, carry the weight of the difficult days, and show up again tomorrow ready to give every animal the love and care it deserves.

What our clients see is great veterinary care. What I see every day is the incredible team of people who make that care possible.

As a veterinarian and practice owner, I know I could never do what I do without them. Their dedication, patience, skill, and compassion are the heartbeat of PetCare, and I am so incredibly grateful to have them by my side.

To my amazing team: I hope you never underestimate the difference you make. Not just in the lives of the animals we care for, but in the lives of their families and in mine, too.

You may not always hear thank you for every little thing you do, but please know that you are seen, you are valued, and you are appreciated more than words can express. 💕

PetCare wouldn’t be PetCare without YOU.

With all my love and appreciation,

❤️ Dr. Liz

Introducing a new cat doesn’t have to be stressful. 🐾💜 A slow, thoughtful introduction can make a huge difference in helping cats feel safe, secure, and comfortable together.

Boo & James approve of taking it one step at a time. 😸

Furniture getting the claw treatment? 😹 Boo & James have a message: scratching is normal—your sofa just shouldn’t be the target. 🐾💜

Give them the right spot to scratch, stretch, and show off those claws. Your cat wins. Your couch wins. Everybody wins. 😎

Ever wonder why your cat suddenly starts peeing outside the litter box? 🐱💦 It’s usually not “spite” — and it can be your cat’s way of telling you something is wrong.

Medical problems, stress, territorial behavior, changes in the home, litter box setup, or even neighborhood cats can all play a role. That’s why we always want to rule out health concerns first before assuming it’s purely behavioral.

A few things that can help at home:

* Keep litter boxes large, clean, and easy to access
* Have enough boxes for your household
* Avoid punishment — it can increase stress and make the problem worse
* Watch for changes in frequency, straining, blood in the urine, or repeated trips to the box
* Pay attention to new pets, visitors, outdoor cats, or other stressors

If your cat suddenly starts having accidents, don’t ignore it. Early evaluation can help us figure out whether there’s a medical issue, a behavior concern, or a little of both. 💜

Healthy ears = happier pets! 👂🐾

Routine ear cleaning can be a great part of your dog’s wellness care, but technique matters. Use a veterinarian-approved ear cleaner, gently massage the base of the ear, let your dog shake, and wipe away only what you can easily see with gauze or a cotton ball.

A few important reminders:

* Never push cotton swabs down into the ear canal
* Don’t force cleaning if your dog is painful or very resistant
* Redness, odor, discharge, swelling, or repeated head shaking can mean an infection is already present

If your pet’s ears are uncomfortable or you’re not sure what cleaner to use, give us a call. We’re happy to help keep those ears healthy. 💜🐾

🎃🐾 Halloween is full of fun, but a few simple precautions can keep the night from turning spooky for your pets. Keep candy, candles, decorations, and people food out of reach, make sure costumes are comfortable, secure doors during trick-or-treating, and give nervous pets a quiet place to relax.

A little planning goes a long way toward a safe, happy Halloween for the whole family. 💜🧡

The best time to build a confident adult pet starts early. 🐶🐱💜

Positive socialization helps puppies and kittens learn that new people, pets, places, sounds, and experiences are safe—not scary.

A few simple tips:

* Keep new experiences positive and gradual
* Use treats, praise, and play to build good associations
* Let them meet a variety of people and environments
* Don’t force interaction if they seem overwhelmed
* Keep vaccine status in mind and avoid unsafe exposure to unknown animals or high-risk areas

Those early experiences can have a huge impact on confidence, behavior, and how comfortable your pet feels throughout life.

Need help getting your new puppy or kitten off to a great start? We’re happy to guide you. 🐾

🐾 Is it “just old age”… or could something more be going on?

As dogs age, changes like nighttime pacing, getting “stuck” in corners, new accidents in the house, increased anxiety, altered interactions, or seeming confused can sometimes be signs of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS).

CCDS is a progressive condition that affects the aging brain and is often compared to Alzheimer’s disease in people. The encouraging part is that early recognition gives us more opportunities to help. ❤️

Treatment may include medications, targeted nutrition and supplements, pain management, environmental enrichment, predictable routines, puzzle toys, scent games, gentle exercise, and other individualized therapies.

And remember—pain, dental disease, hearing or vision loss, and other medical problems can mimic cognitive decline, so a thorough veterinary evaluation is important.

If you’ve noticed changes in your senior dog, talk with us. Their golden years can still be full of comfort, connection, and joy. 🐶💜

Food guarding can be scary—but it’s important to remember that it usually comes from fear, insecurity, or worry about losing a valued resource, not “bad behavior.” 🐶💜

A few things that help:

* Feed your dog in a calm, quiet space
* Don’t grab the bowl or punish growling
* Teach that people approaching means good things happen—for example, calmly tossing a high-value treat from a safe distance
* Keep children away from a dog that guards food, treats, or chews
* If you’re seeing stiffening, hard staring, growling, snapping, or escalating behavior, ask for professional help early

The goal is to build trust, not create a battle over the bowl.

Questions about your pet’s behavior? We’re happy to help point you in the right direction. 💜🐾

Ear infections are more than just itchy ears. 👂🐾

Recurring ear problems often have an underlying cause, and allergies are one of the most common. That’s why the same medication may not be right every time.

Watch for:

* Head shaking or scratching
* Redness or tenderness
* Odor
* Discharge
* Repeated ear infections

And one important myth to bust: ear infections usually aren’t “caught” from another pet. They’re often secondary to inflammation, allergies, yeast, bacteria, or other underlying issues.

If your pet’s ears are itchy, smelly, painful, or just keep flaring up, it’s time for an exam so we can treat the infection and look for the reason it keeps happening. 💜
