📚🐾 Two Children's Books Every Pet Family Should Know About 🐾📚

One of the hardest parts of loving animals is knowing that, someday, we'll have to say goodbye. As a veterinary team, we walk alongside families through those moments every day, and sometimes a story can open the door to conversations that are otherwise impossible.

💙 **One Last Snoot Boop** by John Graff follows the life of a beloved family dog, celebrating the joy, loyalty, and love pets bring before gently introducing the reality of loss. Written in simple rhyme, it's a beautiful resource for helping children understand grief while focusing on the memories that never leave us. ([NetGalley][1])

💙 **Stay: A Girl, a Dog, a Bucket List** by Kate Klise tells the story of Astrid and her aging dog, Eli, as they make the most of the time they have together. Rather than centering on the ending, it reminds us that the greatest gift we can give our pets—and each other—is simply our time and love. ([Macmillan Publishers][2])

Whether you're helping a child process the loss of a pet, preparing for an aging companion's final chapter, or simply wanting to celebrate the bond you share today, these books are thoughtful additions to any pet lover's bookshelf.

🦷 Dental Detective Time! 🕵️‍♀️🐱

This kitty came in for a dental procedure, and while the teeth above the gumline didn't tell the whole story, the dental X-rays revealed a different picture.

👀 Take a look at these X-rays and tell us:

Photo 1: If you were the veterinarian, which tooth (or teeth) would you want removed?

Photo 2: What is different about this view?

Drop your guess in the comments! ⬇️

We'll reveal the answer tomorrow and explain what we found.

💡 Fun fact: More than half of a tooth is hidden below the gumline, which is why dental X-rays are considered the standard of care during dental procedures. They help us find painful problems that can't be seen during a regular exam.

Yesterday, many of you saw the tiny kitten we shared from Hub City Humane Society’s page. We have lovingly named him Pivot. At just a few weeks old, he has already faced more than most ever should.

Today, Pivot underwent the difficult surgery to amputate his leg. He is now in recovery, and while we’re thankful he made it through surgery, his journey is far from over. He remains fragile and is not out of the woods yet.

This little fighter has already shown incredible strength, and we’re hopeful that this surgery gives him the chance he deserves. For now, we’re asking for your thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes as he continues to heal.

If you would like to help with Pivot’s ongoing medical care, donations can be made through Hub City Humane Society’s Facebook fundraiser post or by calling Town & Country Animal Hospital directly.

Thank you to everyone who has shared his story, donated, and cheered him on. It truly takes a village, and Pivot has an entire community rooting for him. ❤️🐾

Please keep this little one in your thoughts as he undergoes surgery tomorrow. Donations can be made directly to the Hub City Humane Society account by calling the clinic at 601-261-3839.

Some haircuts are a little more complicated than others. ❤️

Cooper has a history of seizures, so we knew his spa day needed to be taken nice and slow. No rushing, no added stress—just lots of patience, gentle handling, and plenty of breaks when needed.

We’d say Cooper was pretty brave through the whole thing… and judging by that face, he didn’t think it was too bad either. 😎✂️

A special thank you to Arryn for taking such great care of Cooper and making sure his experience stayed calm, comfortable, and stress-free from start to finish. The little things matter, especially for pets who need a little extra TLC.

Way to go, Cooper! Enjoy that fresh haircut, handsome boy.

👑 Front Desk Favorite: Princess 👑

Some boarding guests spend their vacation relaxing.

Princess spent hers checking off her to-do list. ✔️

While staying with us, this sweet little Pomeranian squeezed in her annual exam, prescreening labwork, and dental procedure—all without missing out on the important things, like receptionist cuddle time and being told how adorable she is approximately every five minutes.

Honestly, if Princess could leave a review, it would probably say: "Excellent service. Plenty of snuggles. Would vacation here again."

We loved having this fluffy little queen stay with us and helping her head home feeling fresh, healthy, and ready for her next royal appearance. 💕🐾

Hello. Ronald here. 🐈

Apparently it's "Cat Month," which means the humans have decided to celebrate us. As they should.

Now, I know what you're thinking:
"My teeth are fine. I can still crunch treats, bite my sibling's tail, and scream at 3 a.m."

That's exactly what I thought, too.

See, cats are professionals at hiding pain. We don't complain. We just adapt... and keep pretending everything is normal.

The nice people at Town & Country know this, which is why they're offering $100 off cat dentals during June. But here's the important part: they need to get your pre-screening labwork done first so they can make sure you're healthy and save you a spot before the schedule fills up.

Personally, I think fresh breath and pain-free chompers are worth it. Makes grooming easier. Makes treats taste better. Makes judging the dog from across the room much more enjoyable.

Tell your human to call or click here to get you scheduled: https://townandcountryanimalhospitalhattiesburg.com/veterinary-appointment-hattiesburg-ms/

You deserve it.
