Hey Barkin Family! I (Brandi) wanted to update all of you on what's going on with me. Unfortunately, it is not good news.

Ever since I had covid in December 2023, I have had a breathing issue where I wake up in the early morning hours unable to breathe. Usually I can get up and walk around a while and I will be fine. Unfortunately, last Tuesday morning the 10th, I was not able to catch my breathe and had to go to the ER. After finding a heart murmur, they did an ultrasound and found that the mitral valve in my heart isn't closing properly. This is causing blood to regurgitate back out and into my lungs. Long story short, i go in this Thursday the 19th for a heart cath to make sure my heart is working properly otherwise, and a TEE test, which is a scope down the throat to get a better picture of what's going on. After this, the way I understand it, is i will be scheduled for open heart surgery to replace the valve.

As of right now, I feel fine now that I have been on meds to clear the fluid on my heart and lungs.

If you are the praying kind, please call upon your higher power and keep my wife, Crystal in your thoughts. These next few weeks and months will be loaded with stress and we can use all the good juju everyone can muster!
