2014 Draft Cross Mare
15.3hh, 12 years old
Consigned by FireLight Horses April 2026
Candy has just finished a 30 day spring tune up and is ready to find her forever home! This gal is as sweet as they come, a gentle giant with a sweet disposition and a can-do attitude. Her perfect person is someone who is looking for a big, fun-mover who wants a balance of arena time and trail adventures. If you like a safe, but more "go" than "whoa" type horse, she's your gal! She will slow down when asked, but her default pace is a confident, forward walk. She will trot along happily all day, and enjoys cantering for medium/shorter periods of time. She is currently working off some winter weight, but is working up to more extended periods of exercise.
Pros
โ
๏ธTrail Safe! Will cross tarps, bridges, water, etc.
โ
๏ธ Not spooky! Very solid and unafraid of new objects in the arena or trail that other horses shy away from.
โ
๏ธ Extremely smart and willing partner! She has been an absolute pleasure to work with and is super trainable.
โ
๏ธ Solid citizen! No funny business, stands tied nicely anywhere you put her. Great for the farrier, bathing, loading trailers, next to mounting block etc.
โ
๏ธEasy to ride! Just about anyone can ride Candy. She is used to soft hands and definitely prefers a light-handed rider. She doesn't take much to get to move forward.
โ
๏ธ Fancy broke! Yields hinds and shoulders, side passes, knows her leads, can collect up nicely.
โ
๏ธ UTD! Just had feet trimmed and spring vaccinations. Vet records available at your request.
Things to Consider
โญ๏ธ As with all white faced horses, it is recommended that Candy keeps a fly mask on in sunny weather to protect her pretty eyes.
โญ๏ธCandy is currently safe for an advanced beginner/ intermediate rider. I would not recommend her for a brand new beginner rider at this time just because she is more forward and very sensitive to leg pressure (in a good way).
โญ๏ธShe is slightly pigeon toed, but the farrier gives her his blessing and she's always been sound barefoot.
โญ๏ธBeing a draft type horse, she is prone to being overweight. She will do best in a home where she will be exercised several times per week to help her maintain her figure.
