Penny has had a rough start to life. 😔

Penny first arrived at the shelter on May 18. Two months later, she found herself back at the shelter. Another month passed, and Penny was surrendered to the shelter by her owners. She had already experienced more uncertainty than any dog should have to endure, and sadly, another month went by without finding the right home for her locally. 💔

But Penny's story didn't end there. ✨

She was networked to our wonderful out-of-state partners, and it didn't take long for them to fall in love with her. Through our transport program, Penny has arrived at her new destination, and she wasted no time making a wonderful first impression. 🏡❤ She kindly greeted her new friends by sitting and shaking hands! 🤝🐾 It seems this sweet girl knows how to win hearts wherever she goes.

Penny, we are so happy and hope your days ahead are filled with love, comfort, adventures, cozy naps, and the kind of happiness you've been waiting for. 🥰

🚐🐾 End of September Cruisin’ Canines!

Some of our shelter pups have their next stop lined up, they just need a temporary place to stay before they hit the road!

Transport fosters provide a cozy home and a little extra love while a pup waits for their journey to continue. Most stays are just a couple of weeks, making this a great way to help a dog without making a long-term commitment.

This 3-year-old German Shepherd is a social, friendly and well-mannered gentleman. He has great leash manners, knows how to sit before being asked and takes treats oh-so-gently. Ralph may enjoy being a little more independent and playing on his own, so he’s looking for someone who appreciates his unique personality and will give him the time and space to shine.

Our kennels are full, and animals continue to arrive at the shelter every day. We urgently need fosters and adopters to help give our Urgent Placement Pets the safe, loving homes they need.

Some are here because of medical needs. Others are struggling with the shelter environment. And some simply need someone willing to give them a chance.

BEND and SNAP!! 🫰✨ Meet Kilmer, who... as you can see... is a great model!

🐾 This week's Foster Files features Kilmer who was picked up as a stray under the hot July sun. Now, with fall here, this sweet young terrier and Pit Bull mix is still waiting for someone to give him a place to call home, even if it’s just for a little while.

Less than a year old, Kilmer is showing us what a friendly, social pup he can be. He comes out of his kennel without any issues and walks calmly through the kennel area with no negative reactions. Once in the yard, Kilmer greets his handler on his own, looking for attention and affection. He happily explored, came when called and was comfortable being petted from head to tail. ❤️

We’re truly thankful to have spent the day surrounded by our community as we marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11. 🇺🇸🐾 It was a solemn morning at the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington for DFW’s 9/11 Hero Run.

It’s a day we will never forget.

This year, our FWACC crew had the honor of participating and representing our P.A.W.S. for Patriots program, which helps veterans in their journey back to civilian life while helping shelter pets find meaningful connections.

It was incredibly humbling to hear from the speakers and see more than 1,300 north Texans come together to honor those who served and those whose lives were forever impacted by the tragic events of 9/11.

A special thank you to and for hosting such a meaningful event and bringing our community together to remember. ❤️🇺🇸
