Thank you to the ag teachers, extension agents, and Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens and biologist for their help putting this on! The beauty of mixed-animal practice is its diversity! This bull gemsbok sustained a soft tissue injury after a fight with another bull. The offending horn was removed, the wound explored and cleaned, medications given, and he was good as new! Thank you, Big Country Exotics, for asking us to come out!

One of the joys of the profession is that you never know what type of case or creature you are going to see that day. Last week, Wally the red kangaroo came to us for weight loss and a lump on his jaw.

With lots of help and enthusiasm, we safely restrained and sedated him, then opened a large draining abscess under his jaw. Radiographs confirmed no bony involvement for the infection, which is great news! Wally woke up well and was hopping around the trailer, albeit a little slowly, when he went home that day!
