When most people hear that I train dogs I usually get one of 2 responses. Oh that sounds fun or Playing with dogs for a living seems so fun! Words can’t describe what it’s like but I’ll give it a shot…. scooping p**p multiple times a day, washing and cleaning kennels, feeding and watering dogs, airing dogs, repairing kennels, repairing the building and fences, cutting a lot of grass, maintaining duck/birds and pens, maintaining ponds and grounds, water levels, repairing holes and other damage, working on equipment …. Trailers, fans, side by sides, wingers, electronics, collars, and other associated equipment, treating dogs health issues that arise and ensuring preventative meds are given on time, visiting vets to ensure dogs stay healthy. Making sure dogs don’t get too hot, over worked, or that they don’t get too cold or underworked in general. Making sure their mental health is as solid as their physical health …. All of this and we haven’t even setup and broke down for a session, loaded and unloaded equipment, or ran and trained any dogs yet or loaded up to leave the family and home to go run competitions or tests for a long weekend. So if this sounds like fun then yeah it’s a real blast! Lol. Dog training is 100% hard labor! Sure we get paid Penny’s for our time and won’t do it for free but the real reward is the relationship and the results we attain with the dogs.
