Made it home for one night after shearing school and enjoyed a nice evening with fellow shearers Thomas Proulx, Anthony Pierce & Correy McAtee. Enjoyed sitting by the fire & talking shearing. It's what shearers do 🙄 when not watching shearing videos, listening to shearing music or other shearing things. The llamas were interested in what was going on. They to will get sheared, eventually 🤔

April shearing is almost over, as always, it is a busy time of the year. Made my run through eastern Washington to central Washington (Soap Lake, Ellensburg, Selah, Yakima, Tri Cities) and am now in Moses Lake at the annual shearing school helping others learn the trade. This is always a great event for us shearers as we can get together and swap shearing stories.

Shearing season for me will be starting on the 27th. I have my schedule made and most of my customers contacted. I still enjoy shearing but find that as I get older, I am not so into shearing big & feisty sheep anymore. I will continue shearing llamas and alpacas however and the small sheep flocks during my April & May run. I have enjoyed shearing very much and have made lots of friends over the years and appreciate my dedicated customers. I can give references to anyone looking for a shearer if needed. Looking forward to seeing all my clients and wishing you all a wonderful spring and smooth fiber harvest.

I have a customer in the Naches area that needs her last alpaca moved to another farm in west valley (Yakima) so that it can have other alpacas for company. As neither customer has a way to haul, they are looking for someone who would be willing to help with this transition. Contact me for more info.

Shearing season started out rough this year. After a fall resulting in a bad fracture to my left Calcaneous (heel) on Nov 6th, I spent most of the winter on crutches. My heel although a bit tender and not capable of full motion yet, is holding up and doesn't seem to effect my shearing. However, it will probably effect catching & chasing animals. But then, I came down with some kind of a nasty bug the day before I head out on a 10 day run. I was back home a day & half later, to sick to work. Took a couple days to recoup and headed out again only to have it beat me back into submission after a day. To the doctor this time and on antibiotics. After 5 days of down & out, I have faith that I can get back to it tomorrow.
