Special opportunity for Northern CA ferret lovers! A kind lady downsizing her collection of fuzzy goodies wants to donate this vintage framed, etched mirror to benefit the Ferret Association. It measures 16"x20" and as you can see, was never used, it's in original packaging.

The owner may agree to meet partway but she is located in the town of Tracy. The closest large cities are San Jose or San Francisco.

Important animal protection legislation that has very recently passed in Manitoba, Canada province, aimed at better regulating pet breeding. Congrats to Animal Justice.ca for advocating for more humane standards for the production & sale of domestic pets.

🎉 Victory! Manitoba has passed Bill 19, taking an important step toward regulating animal breeders after years of little to no oversight.

Animal Justice will keep working to ensure ALL companion animal breeders are included in the law's regulations, including those who breed cats, ferrets, & other animals!

Yay! The Smithsonian National Zoo & Conservation Institute has announced the birth of 6 kits to new mother Mizuno. The babies were born May 11. But the best news is they have again put into place the nest box we**am, where you can watch the babies nurse, snooze, and grow. It's addictive!

Toby, the problem child. :(

Toby is a sable roan about 2 years old. He's a problem child because he needs an experienced home with NO CHILDREN and NO TIMID/ELDERLY ferrets.
He likes to be cuddled but he WILL climb up your pant leg and chomp you. He likes other ferrets but he WILL bully/beat up anyone he can.
We're hoping someone within reasonable driving distance to Hartford, CT may be the special home Toby needs. And yes, you do need to travel here to meet him. There is a $150 adoption fee & interview. He has all his shots & a microchip.
If you might be that home, please apply.
If you live 500 miles away, have never had ferrets, are in school, or have young children, sorry, you are not a suitable home for Toby. Please do not apply anyway and reinforce Shelter Director's low opinion of the human race. :) Thank you!

Vigil to be held outside the gates at Marshall Farms from May 28-May 30. Initiated by Beagle Lovers and Rescuers, this PEACEFUL event is designed to draw attention to the thousands of animals enclosed at the facility in North Rose, NY. Animals there include beagles, ferrets, cats, rabbits & others bred both for the pet trade and for medical research.
Marshall Farms has TWO divisions: the one that sells animals to pet stores and Marshall BioResources, that sells for research.

In the region? Please go! Marshall is a privately owned company and the only way to bring pressure to stop the breeding of these animals is for people to show up and to speak out.
If you can't attend in person, you can still help! The link has the address for Marshall Farms. Write a letter to their CEO expressing your disapproval and your determination to not support their company in any way. That means by not buying Marshall products, either! You can buy MUCH nicer sleep spots and toys from companies (esp. shelters!) that do not exploit animals for personal profit.
