There is so much more behind a pedigree than a list of names.
At Erin Winds Equestrian, our Pinto Trakehner breeding program is not simply about producing beautiful markings. It is about preserving rare genetics while breeding the type, movement, athletic ability, temperament and performance potential of the Trakehner sport horse.
And the story behind our stallion Mystic Art is a remarkable one.
š¤ MANJANA ā THE RARE PINTO MATERNAL HERITAGE
On Mystic Art's maternal side stands Manjana, a black tobiano Trakehner mare born in 1989 in Germany and later on imported to the United States.
Manjana was by the tobiano Trakehner Makar and out of Niagara, whose sire was the black tobiano Nil.
Even more fascinating, the Polish tobiano stallion Rewir appears through both sides of Manjana's pedigree.
Manjana became an important link in the continuation of this extremely rare colored Trakehner heritage in North America.
She produced Mystic Memories, a black tobiano Trakehner mare by Kreshendo.
And Mystic Memories produced the horse who would become the cornerstone of our Pinto Trakehner breeding program:

But Mystic Art's story is equally impressive on his father's side.
š LIDA E ā AN ELITE MARE AND SUPER PRODUCER
Mystic Art's sire, Lord Cosmo, was by Cosmopolit and out of the exceptional Trakehner mare Lida E by Enrico Caruso.
Lida was much more than a name in a pedigree.
She became an Elite Mare through the quality of her offspring and produced two approved stallion sons:
Lord Cosmo by Cosmopolit
and
Lord Locksley Ps by Unkenruf.
Lord Locksley proved that this family could perform as well as reproduce, competing successfully through the upper levels of dressage and earning American Trakehner championships at Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I.
In 2015, Lord Locksley also received the prestigious PalmenblĆ¼te Award.
Lida's dam was the State Premium mare Lonka by Heros, the foundation of an especially important North American Trakehner family.
The German Trakehner Verband recognized the Lonka family as its own mare family ā reported by Tylord Farm as the first such family established in North America.
The family produced approved stallions including Laiken, Lord Luciano, Lord Cosmo and Lord Locksley.
That is the strength standing behind Mystic Art's paternal pedigree.

A proven Elite mare family known for producing approved stallions and performance horses.

Mystic Art is a 16.2-hand homozygous tobiano Trakehner stallion who passes the tobiano gene to 100% of his offspring.
But Mystic Art was never bred simply to make spotted horses.
He represents what we believe a breeding stallion should be:
Athletic. Intelligent. Trainable. Versatile. Correct. Beautiful. And capable of passing those qualities to the next generation.
Mystic Art has demonstrated his versatility in dressage, eventing and jumping, and his offspring continue to show the size, bone, movement, temperament and athleticism we strive to produce.
And then came the next chapter.
š HERZKĆNIG TF ā āKING OF HEARTSā
Born in Mai 2023, Erin Winds Equestrian HerzKƶnig TF, by Mystic Art and out of our mare Hoffnung by Cornus/Ravel.
HerzKƶnig TF became the first approved son of Mystic Art.
This young stallion represents another carefully planned generation of our breeding program.
His sire contributes Mystic Art's rare Pinto Trakehner heritage and proven paternal mare family.
His imported dam Hoffnung contributes an exceptional modern Trakehner family associated with E.H. Helium and successful descendants including Ferrari Forever, Rheinglanz and Kap Verde.
The broader family has produced numerous notable Trakehners, while Hoffnung's dam line traces to the Shagya-Arabian mare Herba X, S50A.
HerzKƶnig TF is a substantial 17.0 -hand heterozygous Pinto stallion with impressive frame, bone and masculinity.
His stallion evaluation described him as having three good, ground-covering gaits and highlighted his jumping talent, very good bascule and ability to handle larger fences.
And that is exactly what we wanted.
Not simply another Pinto.
A serious Trakehner sport-horse stallion who happens to be spectacularly colored.

The Pinto coloring is the beautiful finishing touch.
From Manjana and Mystic Memories, through Mystic Art, and now into the next generation with HerzKƶnig TF, we are incredibly proud to continue this living legacy.
