🌟EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🌟

Hey guys! I’ve been a vet tech since 2020. But started working at Russels about 4 years ago after completing my bachelors degree in the field.

Since I am local to the area, most of our clients/patients are friends, family, teachers, or just people I have grown up around. This helps me build a strong bond with them and make sure all their questions are answered and that they feel comfortable with their animals health/care. I will always be there to cry with you, comfort you & your pet, and do anything I can to help.

My husband and I have recently been blessed with a beautiful little boy named Rowan who is about to be 9 months old. In my free time, I usually spend time outside with them, read, & play with our chocolate lab R***r 💙🐾

Fun fact: I’m in charge of the social media & enjoy photography as well!! 📸

Our most recent guess the breed pup recently came to us with concern for a swollen ear 👂

Typically with recurrent ear infections and/or allergies pets will shake their head a lot and scratch at them. Sometimes this can cause blood vessels to burst and build up inside the ear flap. This is what you see below & it is called a hematoma.

Sometimes these can be drained, medicated, and wrapped. However, some cases need surgical intervention to keep from filling back up. This big boy has had his surgery and is now recovering for a few weeks until time to remove the sponge 🧽 🫣

Lindsey Yoakum

I have been a veterinary technician at Russell Veterinary Services for 5 years now since I graduated in 2021 from LMU’s Vet Tech program. As a veterinary technician, I play an important role in patient care- from assisting with appointments and treatments to helping the rest of my team provide the best possible care for every patient that walks through the door. I consider myself to be an advocate for my patient and strive to provide comfort to both our clients and their pets.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Leighton, my husband, Tyler and our two Australian Shepherds, Dolly and Jolene. 💗

Fun fact: if I see an Aussie puppy come into the clinic (or any puppy for that matter) you best believe I will grab it 😂

Today is a special day in that we honor those pets we have lost over the rainbow bridge 🌈

The famous poem says it is a peaceful meadow just this side of heaven where they are restored to youth and health, free from pain, and where they run and play with other animals while waiting to reunite with their owners.

Things to help honor them include posting photos, telling their stories, and just ensuring they will never be forgotten because they sure do leave paw prints on our heart 🐾

Is your pet experiencing allergy symptoms ???

The image below shows a few different options we have here at the clinic 💉💊

- NUMELVI: daily oral tablet
- APOQUEL: daily oral tablet usually given with a loading dose the first two weeks then as needed
- CYTOPOINT: one injection typically lasts 4-8 weeks

There are over the counter options we can offer starting first but these are contenders we see that give the best results. Each pet will have a different and unique case and may do better on one vs the other. Some cases may also need additional medicine to treat any secondary infections.

Give us a call if you think your furbaby may be dealing with allergies and let us get them some itchy relief 📲

This little guy was dropped off nearby our clinic a few days ago and is now hospitalized here with Parvo. Since he was abandoned and we don’t know by who or where he came from we have taken over his care for treatment.

If anyone feels led to donate towards his care please give the clinic a call and ask about “BUSTER” 🫶

Also, he will be available for adoption very soon once so If interested please let us know !!

“ I have been a Veterinary Assistant at Russell Veterinary Services since July 2026. I am currently attending Veterinary Technician school to earn my veterinary technician license and continue growing my knowledge and skills. I love being able to learn something new every day and am excited to continue developing my skills so I can better serve our staff, clients, and, most importantly, our patients. Outside of work and school, I love spending time with my husband, going disc golfing with friends, and, of course, spoiling our fur and scaled babies!
