Do you recognize this handsome guy?
This is Kai, a 7 month old German Shepherd, and I had the opportunity to work with him and his previous owner as well as be part of the process that helped get him safely placed with the shelter so he can find the right home for his needs.
Kai is an incredible dog with so much potential. He is smart, driven, and just needs the right environment with structure, consistency, and an active lifestyle to truly thrive.
German Shepherds are not a one size fits all breed. They require time, training, and purpose, and Kai deserves a home that can give him exactly that.
If you or someone you know is experienced with the breed and looking for an amazing companion, I would highly recommend reaching out to Second Chance Animal Shelter to learn more about him.
If you are interested or have questions, feel free to send me a message as well.
Let’s help Kai find the perfect fit 🤍🐾

Kai - M - GSD - 7 months old. Kai came to us when his owner realized that he was going to be too much dog for her and required more activity & stimulation than she would be able to provide. A GSD is an incredible companion, but they were bred to work, think & stay active. Kai needs a home with:
1. Structure & Leadership - clear rules & consistency with all members of the household.
2. Daily Exercise (a lot of it!) - this isn't a "walk around the block" once kind of dog - Kai needs 1-2 hours of physical activity every day & mental stimulation like training, puzzle toys, or scent work.
3. Ongoing Training & Socialization - Kai hasn't been exposed to a lot of people, other dogs and a varied environment - he is young enough to overcome this with the right person.
4. A Job or Purpose - Kai isn't going to be a sit on the couch and watch the world go by kind of dog, he needs a "job"
5. Time & Attention - he needs an owner who won't leave him alone for long - being ignored = boredom = destructive behavior.
6. Secure Space - a fenced yard would be ideal.

Someone with GSD experience would be a bonus, these dogs aren't for everyone, but with the right person Kai is going to be an AMAZING lifelong adventure buddy!

🚨 CAUTION: PORCUPINES ARE OUT RIGHT NOW 🚨
I’m already seeing and hearing about dogs being taken to the vet for injuries from porcupines. This is happening right now in our area, so please be extra aware when you have your dogs outside.
Porcupines do not run away like other animals. Dogs get curious, go in to investigate… and it only takes one second for a face full of quills.
⚠️ What you should be doing:
• Keep your dog close and supervised
• Use a leash, especially at dusk and night
• Work on a solid recall / “leave it”
• Scan your surroundings before letting your dog roam
⚠️ If your dog gets quilled:
If you attempt to remove quills yourself, please be very careful.
Quills, especially from babies or smaller porcupines, can break off and go under the skin without you even realizing it.
Instead of working their way out, they can actually travel deeper into the body and cause serious damage, even affecting organs.
You must inspect your dog extremely thoroughly and continue to monitor them closely. When in doubt, always seek veterinary care.
💡 Also important:
If porcupines are becoming an issue in your area, please do not shoot or harm them.
It is not their fault how they were created. They are not coming after your dog… your dog is going to them out of curiosity.
This is simply nature.
If anything, please contact the proper professionals to have them safely removed or relocated, but please do not harm them.
This is one of those situations where prevention is everything. Once it happens, it’s painful, expensive, and traumatic for your dog.
🐾 Need help with training?
If you need help tightening up your dog’s recall, obedience, or behavior, reach out.
You can text, call, or send a message through Facebook and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Stay safe out there 🐾

🌟 Service Dog in Training Spotlight: Koda 🌟

Koda has been with me for several months now, and I just have to take a moment to recognize how far he has come… because his transformation has been incredible.

When Koda first started, even something as simple as getting into a vehicle or riding in one caused extreme anxiety. It was overwhelming for him. Fast forward to now, and this same dog will confidently jump into any vehicle, calmly lay down, and truly enjoy the ride.
That alone is huge.

But Koda didn’t stop there…
He now has: ✔ A solid loose lead heel
✔ Task training established
✔ Calm, neutral behavior in public
✔ Confidence in all environments, regardless of noise, children, or other animals
Koda has learned how to think, how to regulate himself, and how to exist in the world with confidence and clarity.

He will be continuing his journey with me for a few more months, and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress he’s made so far. Watching a dog go from anxiety and uncertainty to calm, capable, and reliable… that never gets old.

Koda is becoming everything a service dog should be, and it’s been an honor to be part of that journey 🐾💜

🎉 Graduation Celebration for Miss Duffy! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Miss Duffy and her amazing parents on successfully completing their 5 week obedience and behavior modification program! 🐾

This journey was filled with so many laughs, learning moments, and incredible progress. Watching Duffy transform throughout this process has been nothing short of amazing. Her eagerness to learn, her expressive personality, and the bond she shares with her parents truly made this experience special.
Duffy was able to learn so many new behaviors because of the dedication and time her parents invested, practicing multiple times throughout the day, every single day. That level of consistency truly makes all the difference, and it shows.

Duffy has come such a long way and has worked hard mastering: ✔ Loose lead heel
✔ Sit & stay with distractions
✔ Place command
✔ Recall
✔ Calm greetings when people enter the home
✔ Leave it & out (drop) commands
✔ Resource guarding behavior
✔ Learning how to calm her mind instead of becoming overly excited
✔ Appropriate play with other dogs

The dedication and consistency from her parents played a huge role in this success, and it truly shows. This is what happens when commitment meets the right guidance 💜

I am so proud of all of you and grateful to have been part of Duffy’s journey. You guys did amazing 👏

Just a quick note for current and future clients 🐾

If your Facebook or Messenger settings are set to restrict messages, I may not be able to respond to you directly. In some cases, messages will not send at all, even when I attempt multiple times or try alternative methods through my business settings.
I always do my best to respond in a timely manner, typically within 24 to 72 hours. This is also stated in my automated responses and voicemail. However, when I am blocked from being able to send a message due to someone’s settings, it makes it extremely difficult to respond especially through Facebook Messenger.

In many cases, Messenger is the only contact method I have if a phone number hasn’t been provided, which limits my ability to reach out another way.

I also want to be transparent that if I have to continuously attempt multiple alternative methods through the backend of my business settings, it becomes very time consuming. I personally handle all communication, including messages, comments, calls, and inquiries, and I do my best to make sure everyone is responded to.

In some situations, I’ve even had to go back through older comments just to find a specific person so they can see that I am not intentionally ignoring them.

At the moment, I do have a situation where someone is upset due to limited responses, and I want to be clear that I have made every effort to reach out but am unable to send messages due to their settings.
If you are waiting on a response from me, please feel free to: • Send me a direct message first
• Check your message settings
• Or reach out via text message to my phone number 989-305-7399
I always make every effort to get back to everyone and truly appreciate your patience and understanding 💜
