Ever sit back and look at a day of riding and think... wow I just love this team. Got up this morning far too early to go to a horse show. Walked around and watched these kids be there for each other. Kids excited to take the 3 and 4 year olds into their leadline class, the 8 year old buttoning the collar of the 15 year old, and the kids sharing a horse who work together to make transitions seem less. Behind all of this are great parents who stand behind their kids, holding horses, braiding hair, trucking horses, and bringing donuts. Thank you to all of you for being so much fun to be around. Besides that some HUGE things happened today, so I am going to make the rundown. Will move from the walk trot-2'6" because we all must start somewhere.
Let me start by making a shout out to our two littlest riders, Delaney and Sophia both blue ribboning in lead line.
Violet and Tuesday- went into their biggest class today and did it. This may seem small but when you are 6 and tiny this is a huge deal.
Jude and Smokey- today was her very first show. She may not have totally understood, but she did her best.
Mia and Lincoln-had their most successful show to date, the ended the day Highpoint Champion, but I think trotting the entire course while staying organized was so much more.
Allyse and Smokey- today we learned from our mistakes, went in and did the first Hunter round with oopsies and went back in to the second Hunter round and nailed it.
Reese and Tuesday- today's courses were definitely tough, Reese struggled to remember them, but she stuck through and did it.
Debbie and Alice- today, with some peer pressure lol, completed an entire course at the canter without bracing and were complimented in their flat class, being told the journey is most definitely worth it. She also ended the day Reserve Champion of the crossrail division.
Lilly and Helix- I am so beyond proud of this kid. When you watch a kid struggle and want to give up, who never does, it literally brings me to tears as I sit here. My kids have my heart and that is for sure. Watching her canter her horse through an entire course today, made me so proud. The amount of growth and change this kid has made in such a short time is remarkable and I really love watching her put in time and get the reward!
Emmie and Pinocchio- while to say Pins day was interesting might be an understatement, but he cantered his courses for the first time and ended the day as Highpoint of the crossrail division.
Abby and Scrawny- these two are really growing as a team. It's cool to hear the kids on the team say Abby and Scrawny really work well together. He is definitely not perfect but she takes him in stride and laughs at him when necessary.
Lilly and Digs- these two have definitely had an interesting summer thus far. Today Lilly and Digs had their most successful Hunter hack class, earning a call back in a large number of riders.
Viv and "Lotto"- I think these two had fun. This was ultimately my goal for her today. This kid comes out with so much try. I am proud of her and the tenacity this kid has to keep going.
Lilly and Smokey- this team is just for fun, but Lilly having to switch back and forth from Smokey to Helix was pretty cool. Her day got long, but she stuck to it and finished strong.
Amber and Basil- this team has really been growing and starting to become a pretty competitive team. It was a lot of fun watching the lightbulb click and Amber really putting Basil in front of her leg to go forward.
Dee and Frankie- despite Dee's best efforts, Frankie does seem to enjoy playing in the Hunter ring, lol. It's also a great place for her to practice one rhythm. Dee ended the day Highpoint of the 2'6" hunters!
Emmie and Roscoe- this guy has had a lot of chill time lately, due to rain, but had his best day yet. They ended the day Reserve Champion.
I again could not be more proud of all of these "kids" not because of the ribbons, but because of the teamwork!!!
