Happy National Reptile Awareness Day!

Reptiles are some of the most mistreated and misunderstood pets. For Reptile Awareness Day and every other day of the year, we welcome you to come into the store and see if there's anything you can do to improve your animal husbandry. Whether it's getting basking spots to the correct temperature, upgrading to the minimum enclosure size, or adding UVB lighting, a little research can go a long way in improving your pet's quality of life. We offer free care guides at Critter Cove for common species like bearded dragons and leopard geckos but are happy to help you find what you need for any critter.

Our pets can't tell us what they need, but there are a ton of resources to help us know better and do better for the critters that bring us so much joy 💛

While we’re primarily a fish and reptile store, we do carry some basic supplies for birds and small mammals. Our bulk feed selection in particular is a customer favorite. Get better prices and more variety while supporting local!

Is there a certain product that you purchase regularly for your reptile, fish, bird, or small mammal that we don’t carry? Feel welcome to reach out, and we’ll be happy to start carrying it for you if we can!

Featured this week is our Miami Motley Buff corn snake! This little one has come a long way with us. Some fun facts about them ⬇️

🌶️ When they first got here, they were pretty spicy. They're a truly sweet snake now, though. Just needed some love and care, which we specialize in here at Critter Cove!
🐍 They have a great feeding response and get excited for feeding day! Right now, they're eating frozen thawed pinky mice.
🌿 Their favorite place to hang out is in their fern. It's a little big for them right now, but it will fit perfectly in their future adult 4' x 2' x 2' enclosure!

Stop in this week to try and catch a glimpse!

Hand feeding our juvenile jeweled lacerta this morning! These lizards are incredibly intelligent, active, and a bit skittish, making consistent interacting and positive reinforcement vital from a young age.

Lacertas are one of Skylar's favorite critters 😊 Their care needs are unique, which she finds gratifying. Wild populations are becoming increasingly scarce, so be sure to buy captive bred (and hopefully from us!) if you think this critter is right for you.

We’re big fans of planted tanks at Critter Cove, but we understand that not everyone is up for the challenge of keeping live plants. We love these new fake plants we started carrying — they almost look real!

Thank you, Gia Coppola, for sharing your tanks with us last month during our enclosure highlight post! We asked customers to share tanks that they'd built using supplies from Critter Cove, and we even got a bonus cat appearance! 😻

We especially love the dragonstone arch in Gia's second tank. One of our favorite naturalistic tank decorations in store!

Comment your tanks below and show some support for Gia's impeccable taste 🤗
