Anicira Anicira Veterinary Center is a nonprofit organization that offers compassionate, high-quality, affordable veterinary care to cats and dogs.

We work to help pets lead happier and healthier lives. Anicira is a nonprofit Veterinary Center that offers high-quality, compassionate, and affordable outpatient services, including spay/neuter and soft tissue surgeries, dentistry procedures, well and sick care, vaccinations, a Pet Food Pantry for pet families in need of support, and more. Our experienced veterinary care team understands that you

r pet is a family member. Our goal is to provide high-quality care to help improve the comfort and quality of our patients' lives. We utilize the highest standards of care to ensure the safety and comfort of each pet during his or her visit with us. We care for thousands of cats and dogs in the San Diego metro area each year, and we continue to advance the mission and improve the lives of animals in our community, especially those who need us most—animals in need of veterinary care who have nowhere else to go. Through our programs, we are helping to improve the lives of many animals and their families. Please Note:

The summer season brings beautiful flowers, vibrant greenery, buzzing insects…and pet allergies! Just like people, dogs and cats can react to pollen, mold, dust mites, and other environmental allergens. You can help your pets stay happy and healthy by recognizing the signs and taking steps to manage their allergies.

Common allergens for pets include:
🌳 Tree, grass, and w**d pollen
🍄 Mold spores and fungi (especially in damp outdoor and indoor spaces with poor ventilation)
🐜 Dust mites (found in bedding, carpets, and upholstery)
🦟 Flea, mosquito, and tick bites
🚬 Cigarette smoke and certain cleaning products

The first step to managing your pet’s allergies is to recognize the signs. Pay attention to itchy or red skin, frequent licking or rubbing against objects, excessive shedding, head shaking, discharge from the ears, an upset stomach, or changes in appetite. If you notice any of these, contact Anicira to set up an appointment. We’ll evaluate your pet and recommend the best treatment plan, which may include medications, environmental management, dietary changes, or allergy testing.

Fleas can cause intense itching, skin infections, and even transmit tapeworms. Ticks can carry diseases that affect both pets and people. And mosquitoes spread Heartworm disease, a potentially life-threatening condition that affects the heart and lungs and is much harder (and more expensive) to treat than it is to prevent.

The tricky part? You won’t always see these parasites, and it only takes one bite to cause a problem.

Keeping your pet on monthly preventatives protects them from these hidden dangers and helps avoid costly, stressful medical issues down the road. Even indoor pets aren’t completely safe; mosquitoes and fleas can easily make their way inside!

Prevention is simple. Treatment is not. Learn more here: https://anicira.org/resources/the-importance-of-year-round-flea-tick-heartworm-preventatives/

The cost of veterinary services shouldn’t keep a cat from receiving life-saving care. If you have a sick or injured cat living in your household and live in Augusta County, Staunton, or Waynesboro, you can find help at Anicira through generous grant funding.

We’re deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge and its David Feline Medical Assistance Fund for providing support for cat families in these regions. Reach out to 540-437-1980 or [email protected] to set up an appointment, and please help us spread the word to other cat families living in the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, or in August County.
