We have names! The fluffy boy pictured first is Flounder and the girl pictured second is Guppy. They are going to a new foster home soon as I am leaving for a 2 week trip this weekend. They are so sweet and playful. They will be ready for a home in just a few weeks :)

This is one of 4 kittens I found under a trailer last week. The owner reached out for help with TNR in her neighborhood due to all the feral cats she feeds outside her home. She mentioned that a mom had kittens under her trailer, so of course I had to check it out. I crawled under her trailer and pulled these guys out. They were scared and spicy, but they quickly came around. Most of their eyes were crusted shut from an infection which is an emergency as they can quickly lose their sight, eyes, and even their life if it goes untreated. They made an amazing recovery after just a few days of treatment. I was able to trap their mom and get her spayed/vetted through Anicira’s TNR program. I will also be back for TNR for the remaining kitties. Does anyone have any name ideas? :)

Kitten season is here, and it’s a powerful reminder of how much impact one simple action can have.

By spaying just ONE female cat, you can prevent an incredible number of unwanted litters and kittens. A single unspayed cat can have 2–3 litters per year, with about 4–6 kittens per litter, that’s roughly 8–18 kittens every year. Over a typical reproductive lifespan, that adds up to 80–100+ kittens from just ONE cat.

But the impact doesn’t stop there. Each of those kittens can begin reproducing in as little as 6 months. If even a portion of them go on to have just 1–2 litters of their own, the numbers quickly multiply into hundreds, and potentially thousands, of cats within just a few years.

Now flip that around: spaying one cat doesn’t just prevent one litter, it prevents an entire chain reaction of future litters that would have followed.

That’s why spay/neuter is so important. One simple procedure can stop generations of unwanted kittens, reduce overcrowded shelters, and help countless cats avoid life outdoors or in crisis situations.

Please consider donating for Great Community Give this year!! They have helped me with many fosters and have covered the cost of over 1,000 TNRs that I have done.

No pet should face hunger. And no family should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pet. For many families, feeding their pet isn’t just a responsibility—it’s a daily worry, and sometimes an impossible choice.

Anicira’s Pet Food Pantry was built on compassion, dedication, and countless quiet sacrifices. Today, thousands of pets in our community depend on us to make sure they don’t go without the nutritious food they need.

In 2025, Anicira provided 185,849 pounds of free food to pet families in our community. That's 513,464 free meals to cats and dogs who need it most. But what can’t be measured is the relief on a person’s face when they realize their pet will have food tonight. That moment, when stress turns into hope, is why this work matters.

Our pantry is open each week for clients to receive a month’s supply of food. Clients can drop in at 206 South Avenue in Harrisonburg during the following hours:
🐾 Tuesday & Wednesday: 3–6 PM
🐾 Thursday: 9 AM–12 PM

We also welcome volunteers during these hours, and every helping hand makes a difference.

During the Great Community Give, your support helps ensure that no pet goes hungry and no family faces that heartbreak alone. With just a $25 donation, you can feed a pet for three months.

Meet Stripe! She is about 6 months old and is such a sweet kitten. She came from someone who has several barn cats and she was not doing well there. She had severe diarrhea, was dehydrated, and lethargic. She has made a full recovery since and got spayed yesterday. She did great and is ready for a forever home. She is an outgoing girl and has done great with cats, dogs, and kids. If you might be interested just send me a message or apply for her at FFGW.org :)

Meet Oreo! He is one of six siblings I picked up from transport yesterday to foster. They’re about 6–7 months old and such a sweet, outgoing group. They’ve already been adjusting so well and are looking for fosters/adopters.
The list of kitties needing help keeps growing, and without fosters, they can’t say yes to saving them. Some of these cats we are asked to help are listed for euthanasia due to space, so fostering truly saves lives. If you might be interested you can send me a message and I would be happy to help set you up :)
