We have received many phone calls regarding the closing of Affordable Veterinary Services of North Arkansas. Because of this, we wanted to pass along some information for those folks that might want products or services from the Boone County Veterinary Clinic. We are always happy to see new clients as our schedule allows, so please feel free to call or stop by to speak with one of our receptionists about setting up an appointment. Regarding prescription refills, including Heartworm Preventatives and some Flea & Tick Preventatives, we will either need to examine your pet to establish care or have approval from your previous provider to be able to legally prescribe these medications. Patient records can be emailed to [email protected]. Thank you and we look forward to helping you in any way we can.

Spring in Arkansas brings longer days, warmer weather and a noticeable rise in parasites that can affect our pets health. While many pet parents do a great job keeping up with prevention year-round, this time of year is when parasite risks really ramp up.

This year, we are seeing an unusually high number of Bobcat Fever cases. Bobcat fever(cytauxzoonosis) is a highly fatal, tick-borne disease in domestic cats caused by the parasite Cytauxzoon felis, typically transmitted by the Lone Star tick. This disease causes rapid, severe illness—including high fever, anemia, jaundice, and often-times, death. Just because your cat is inside only, does not mean they are safe!

Prevention of this disease is highly recommended due to the high mortality rate despite proper treatment. Our preferred choice of prevention is a product called Revolution Plus which is proven to kill a high percentage of ticks before they can transmit disease.

Because this product is a prescription, a yearly visit at our clinic is required to purchase. If needed, please call us to schedule an appointment with one of our skilled doctors at 870-741-9475.

🚨Clinic Operation Change🚨

Our lunch schedule has temporarily changed due to staffing shortages. During this time, our phones will be off from 12-1pm and all pet drop-offs/discharges will be before or after the lunch period. We will still have a dedicated team member available in clinic for prescription and product pick-ups for your convenience. We thank you for your patience at this time.

Boone County Veterinary Clinic is excited to welcome a new Veterinary Assistant to our team!

What the role includes:

🐾 Assisting our veterinarians during exams and procedures, including safe and confident restraint (can be very physically demanding)
🐾 Performing basic diagnostic tasks like drawing blood, running lab work, taking radiographs, and collecting samples
🐾 Keeping the clinic clean is an integral part of this role, along with helping care for our patients throughout the day
🐾 Learning to help up front as needed to support our reception team

This list isn’t exhaustive, but it gives a good idea of what day to day life looks like. We’ll go over everything in more detail during the interview.

Being a veterinary assistant is hands on, fast paced, and definitely keeps you moving but it’s also incredibly rewarding. We’re looking for someone who brings a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and great teamwork to the table.

This is a full‑time position. If you’re ready to jump in and grow with us, stop by the clinic to fill out an application.

If you’ve applied within the last 90 days, you’re still in the running and don’t need to reapply.

Our internet and phones are currently down because of the construction down the street. They hope to have service restored soon. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

To provide you with the best possible service, our clinic is upgrading to a new practice management software.

This new software is designed to streamline our clinic's operations and create a more convenient experience for you. While we anticipate a smooth transition, we ask for your patience during the first few weeks as our staff adjusts to the new platform.

As part of this transition, there will be a change in how you are able to digitally access your pet's health records. The app we currently use is called PetDesk, but it will no longer be available after January 13th 2026. The new app is called DaySmart Pet Care.

If you would like to continue or begin accessing your pet's health records, please follow these steps:

Download the PetCare by DaySmart app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Create your account using the phone number we have on file for you.

Once logged in, you will have immediate access to your pet's upcoming appointments and medical history.

Please be patient with us as we navigate an entirely new operating system. Wait times might be slightly longer than usual.

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in caring for your pet's well-being. Please reach out to us with questions or concerns.
