Makayla and Jasmyn did something super exciting this last weekend! We strive to provide the best service possible for all of our clients. Continued education is a key piece of that puzzle! The girls went all the way to Texas to go to the US pet pro classic. While there they took classes specific to Cat handling and grooming. We love our feline clients just as much as our canines! Cat grooming is nothing like dog grooming and should only be done by experienced professionals. We take the same approach with our cats as we do the dogs in our care, but with a feline specific twist. Cage, restraint, and muzzle free always! One of the segments highlighted the importance of a cat specific area, which the paw spa has already incorporated into our salon. It’s important to have a quiet safe area for the kitties in our care. Please note that we will always do our best to stand out and go above and beyond in an industry that often loses sight of what is most important- the animals and providing safe compassionate care! Doesn’t every cat and dog deserve the turquoise pooch experience??🐾💕😻

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT? WHY DO HIGH STANDARDS MATTER? WHY ARE WE ARE NOT “CHEAP” GROOMERS ?

These questions may not mean anything to some people. To be completely blunt if they don’t we are NOT the groomers for you. We understand we may not be for everyone.
If you are ok with your fur baby to be tied to a tub or table with a CHOKE CHAIN (spoil alert there are local groomers in Harrison and Berryville that this is common practice) we are not the groomers for you.
If you do not understand the difference in cheap grooming products compared to high quality products - we are not the groomers for you. I would not wash a child in carcinogens and I will not use them on your dog. The products we use are only TOP SHELF. Example budget shampoo at $35 or less per gallon compared to $100 per gallon.
Ladies - how would you feel going to a salon, they shampoo your hair but do not condition. EWWWW RIGHT? Do you know many local salons DO NOT CONDITION? That leaves the coat open without replacing the moisture they just stripped with the shampoo! This is not ideal for your pets coat.
We have EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUMANS - so two staff members working with pets that require an extra touch.
We do not feed cheap treats! All the treats are high quality & human grade. Treats help the entire process go smoother for dogs that are treat motivated. Each bag is close $20. We care about making the dogs in our care as happy as possible but, do not cut corners.
Cages - we are cage free and restraint free. Our doors remain locked for this reason. Also, people walking into a shop excites all the animals in the salon. I have experienced that utter madness and set out to offer a completely different approach and environment for all pets in our care. We are extremely proud of our beautiful facilities and are happy to schedule a tour to anyone that desires. Most grooms take on average 1.25 hours ( small dog grooms) 2.0 hours (large breed grooms) If you don’t care about the environment your pet is in, that they are caged, how long they are at the groomer - we are not the groomers for you.
Please understand comparing The Turquoise Pooch to traditional grooming salons is not a true comparison.

Our prices reflect our high standards . Are there cheaper groomers? Of course there are but, we are the only salon operating under our strong code of ethics offering unsurpassed compassion focused grooming. We don’t just offer a groom - WE OFFER AN OVERALL EXPERIENCE. If none of this means anything to you concerning your fur family we are not the groomers for you.

We do offer a discounted service through our apprenticeship program. We also offer a discount shave down service for severely matted animals whose parents are on a limited income. We follow the same income guidelines as the Humane Society for their discounted spay/ neuter programs.

This is Mujo. He has been with us since he was a puppy. I hope you enjoy a photo journey of his grooming visit today. He knows the routine, he knows he is safe, he knows he can relax in a position that is comfortable for him. He literally falls asleep while I’m doing his face between being fed human grade treats. Almost every puppy that starts with us at a young age will have the same experience as Mujo. He is PRECIOUS! 🩵

Makayla and Jasmyn have been incredibly busy working in Harrison, Jasper, Berryville, Compton, and other areas in the shop and in the mobile unit. They have an exciting day planned at our new holiday island location coming up soon! Makayla now has Monday availability as well. Message us to book, they will fill up quickly! Just a dog.
From time to time people tell me “chill out, it’s just a dog” or “it’s a lot of money just for a dog.” They don't understand the distance traveled, the time invested, or the costs incurred by "just a dog".
Some of my proudest moments have occurred with “just a dog.”
Many hours have passed being my only company "just a dog", but not for one moment did I feel despised. Some of my saddest moments have been because of “just a dog,” and on those gray days, the gentle touch of “just a Dog” gave me comfort and the reason to get through the day.
If you also think “it’s just a dog”, then you’ll probably understand phrases like “just a friend”, “just a sunrise” or “just a promise.” “Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure unbridled joy. “Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
For "just a dog" I will get up early, take long walks and look forward to the future. So for me and people like me, it’s not “just a dog,” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the memories of the past, and the absolute joy of the moment. “Just a dog” brings out the good in me and takes my thoughts away from myself and daily worries.
I hope one day they can understand that it’s not “just a dog”, but the one that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human.” So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog”, just smile because they “just don’t get it”.

I took a call about a pregnant momma cat that was a stray. The shelter said they couldn’t help. Sterling and Meme went to get her after setting up a safe space in the little pool storage. She had them less than 24 hours later. They are ready for their INDOOR HOMES. They are eating food and are litter box trained. Momma will be spayed and will has been adopted by my mom. 💜
They are super sweet and beautiful. Mom is long haired.
