Our clients get to CHOOSE what makes them most comfortable. Many cat groomers request that your cat be sedated. The Turquoise Pooch team is the exact opposite. We do not like to work on an animal that is doped up unless it is an absolute necessity. (Which we have found is never) In our experience it makes things worse and the animal relates that crappy feeling to coming to the groomer. We focus on the over all EXPERIENCE for your pet. Stoney is a Maine C**n and an excellent example. He used to have to be sedated every time to get his belly shaved.

Please meet Kira. We have been grooming her mobile to her home for about 2.5 years. She used to hate the entire process. She would literally jump at the door & husky scream to get out. Once you let an animal be themselves, trust you on their terms, and TRULY HONOR THE ANIMAL - this is the outcome! THIS is what separates us from traditional grooming techniques. Had she been restrained, caged and made to comply we would not be posting this beautiful video!

We’ve had a big influx of them lately so I wanted to take some time and do a Q &A with alot of the questions we’ve had lately.

Q: why don’t we allow parents in the building?
A: we do! Ask your groomer and we would love to give you a tour. We want you to feel safe leaving your pup. Accommodations can be made to allow the pet parent to be with their pet for grooming, if it’s what is in the best interest of the pet.
We simply don’t let parents come in unsupervised and unexpectedly like traditional salons due to safety. It’s also such a calm environment this can cause disruption for the dogs being groomed and the groomers. Being cage and restraint free safety is our highest priority. So people coming in and out could lead to injury or a loose pup. But you’re always welcome. Just ask 💜

Q: why is it a big deal when I’m late?
A : kind of similar to above. Being one on one and not having cages to hold dogs it sets our next appointment behind, and then that sets the tone for a rough day for everyone. Being punctual is respectful to the person after you as well as your groomer 🐾

Q: why am I being charged a cancellation fee?
A: if you don’t show up to your scheduled and confirmed appointment, we have to come to work and sit for an hour to two hours not being paid 😭 no one wants to work for free 😩
This isn’t to say we don’t understand unforeseen circumstances.

Q: why do you charge more than other groomers?
A: this is a luxury service. Start to finish. Your dog is hand dryed. (Not cage dryed) your dog is express groomed (in and out, no sitting in a kennel all day) we use top shelf products and human grade treats. We also have two people working with your pup. Our groomer and their assistant/emotional support human to ensure their physical and emotional needs are met. Most of our accessories are handmade and no one in town has them. And your dog most of all is loved and treated with the best care they deserve.
We do also have different packages for every budget!

Q: why do I have to pull to the back door?
A: this is the safest method for getting your dog in and out 💜 We’ve also found it’s convenient. You don’t even have to get out of the car which is especially nice for a lot of our elderly clients.

Q: I didn’t like the haircut I received.
A: we recommend talking with your groomer about your expectations and goals. Sometimes the haircut is unattainable due to your dogs comfort level. (All groomers are required to sign a code of ethics/conduct and not following could result in termination) Sometimes it boils down to style. Different groomers have different styles. If you’ve talked with your groomer and are still unhappy please give another groomer within the business a chance to meet that goal. We want our clients to continue to receive the care they deserve. Please give us feedback and give us a chance to address any concerns or issues you have. Our owner is more than happy to help and hear you as well. 💜
