Most pet parents focus on what’s in their pet’s bowl🄣, but this conversation shows that what the food is stored in matters just as much!

Materials like glass, food grade ceramic, and stainless steel sit at the top because they’re inert and don’t interact with food, while plastics fall into a spectrum depending on their type, quality, and condition. More stable plastics like #2, #4, and #5 can be reasonable options, but they’re still not completely inert, especially over time with exposure to fats, heat, and wear. Lower-quality or unknown plastics ( #3, #6, 7) raise more concern due to additives and higher potential for chemical migration, particularly when containers become scratched, cloudy, or degraded. Silicone is stable for short term use, but capable of absorbing oils and odours with long-term use.

One of the most practical takeaways is that storage habits matter: keeping kibble in its original bag and placing the whole bag inside a container helps reduce direct contact and preserves freshness. It’s nearly impossible to eliminate plastic entirely, but reducing long-term exposure from everyday storage is possible.

Attention Hunting Families.
PLEASE NOTE….. He is not from my breeding's, but he is available and located in the Minnetonka area. Sally is his current caretaker . She has been the dog walker and caretaker for this beautiful Standard Poodle and is now helping to find him a new home. I'm looking to place him in a hunting home.

Hi there — my name’s Mikko. I’m a 4-year-old Standard Poodle with a big heart, a sharp nose, and a story that’s still being written. I’ve had a few changes in my life, and while my family couldn’t keep me, I’m still hoping to find a calm, loving home where I can truly settle in.

A little about me: I’m impeccably house-trained, crate-trained, and already neutered. Inside the home, I’m polite, have a sweet-nature, and enjoy a calm environment. I’m what you might call a sensitive soul, a dedicated ā€œwildlife enthusiast,ā€ a bit of a comedian, and one of the best dancers you might ever see.

I’m loyal and affectionate, and once I feel safe, I give the best full-body hugs (non-negotiable!). I like to take my time getting to know new people and surroundings. I can be sensitive to touch at first, but once you’re in my circle, you’ll have my whole heart — classic poodle move!

When I was younger, I had professional upland hunt training, and I still have strong instincts. I do love following a good squirrel, mouse, or rabbit trail.

Because of that, I’ll need a home without small animals or livestock, and a securely fenced yard would make me very happy. An invisible fence won’t be the right fit for me due to my high prey drive — trust me on this one!

On leash, I can sometimes feel overwhelmed by oncoming dogs and may ā€œreact,ā€ but I do much better when I have space to relax and just be a dog. With the right structure, consistency, and outlet for my energy, I have a lot of potential and so much love to give.

My ideal home would be with someone patient, experienced with poodles, a hunt home and someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to go at my pace. A calm home (no young kids) will be best for me too. I could do well as your one-and-only, or with another confident dog who understands working breeds.

I’m really hoping for a family open to a gradual introduction, so we can both feel confident that it’s the right match.

So… what do you say? If you think we might be a fit, I’d love to meet you. Maybe we can go for a hike together. I’ll bring my leash and my curious nose.

With love and hope,
Mikko

Adopted! May 2nd, 2026

This doodle is at the animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. His name is Reggie. He’s nine years old. I was in the city today, so I stopped in and took him for a walk and spent some time with him. He takes treats very nice, he loves to be on a walk and explore. He knows commands sit, come, shake, and I think he must know the word heal as he was very excited to be outside however when I’d ask him to heal, he would come to my left side and then he would try to walk ahead of me again, so that would have to be worked on. He would wag his tail when he saw other dogs and other people. He was very friendly. He sat with me at the picnic table very nicely without trying to get up and pull on the leash at all. ļæ¼ Loveā€˜s been rubbed on his chest, he liked his ears being rubbed and just like all my poodles he loves his butt rubbed and does kind of this poodle dance if you rub one side and then the other. ļæ¼
He could use a good grooming. Hard to see his eyes right now. ļæ¼
Check out the Humane Societyā€˜s website for more information on him. ļæ¼ https://www.animalhumanesociety.org/animal/adoption/60739850

I saw somebody else post this today and I think it’s a great reminder of the mistakes we can easily make with our dogs, whether they’re puppies or adult adults.
One of the biggies is when everyone in the house is not using the same words when you’re training your new puppy. Example, the word ā€œdownā€ is used when you want the dog to get in a down position not when you’re wanting him to get off the couch or off your leg when they jump up on you. That would be the word ā€œoffā€. ļæ¼

Sending lots of love and a BIG Happy 12th Birthday to Remy and Mocha’s first litter! šŸŽ‰šŸ¾
Melody, Shop Till U Drop ā€œPink,ā€ Talulah, Henri, George, Linus, Chappie, Rudy—and sweet angel Annie, who is dearly missed after a tragic house fire 4 years ago. ā¤ļø
We kept Melody from the litter, and while she may be slowing down a bit these days, she still loves hunting, playing fetch, going for walks, and soaking up all the love she can get.
Wishing you all a beautiful day of celebration—twelve amazing years and still going strong. What a gift that is! šŸ’•

Amy indulges Benders stuffy habit. 🄰🄰🄰 ā€œBender LOVES his babies. His evening routine is gathering them up to do his nightly ā€œnookingā€. And yes, in this photo he is indeed sitting atop 3 pup pillows. They were just washed and I thought he might nestle in. Sure enough!ā€ LOVE IT! Bender is a Petunia & Maverick boy.
