⚠️ Tick Alert! ⚠️

These three unwelcome hitchhikers were removed from one of our pups today. 🤢

This is the worst tick season we've ever seen, and we're pulling ticks off pups daily. Please be sure to check your dog's daily...especially around the ears, neck, face, armpits, between the toes, and under collars. A quick once-over after walks or time in the yard can help catch them before they become a bigger problem.

Don't forget to keep your pups up to date on their flea and tick prevention and let your veterinarian know if you find a tick attached to your pet.

As much as we love pups the size of Clifford the Big Red Dog, we're currently only accepting new clients up to 40 lbs. due to our groomers' physical limitations. We appreciate your understanding! 🐾

Tyler is officially back following his surgery and recovery, and we're thrilled to have him back! Thank you to everyone for your patience, support, and well wishes during his time away.

We also have another exciting update... Becca will be staying on with us! Her hard work and love for your pups have made her a wonderful addition to our team, and we're so happy she's decided to stay.

With Tyler back and Becca staying on, the Happy Tails team is back in full force! 💪

Today, we are grieving the loss of our beloved pup, Sheldon. He was the best boy with a heart of gold and everyone loved him.

Sheldon was Emma’s best friend and never wanted to leave her side. And of course, who else but Tyler would be willing to carry him up and down three flights of stairs to their apartment? In Sheldon’s mind, he was still a puppy and loved his crazy adventures with Ping, his best buddy. He was always out on walks with Dad and would frequently run into some of our clients, making friends wherever he went.

As a puppy, he endured lots of “love” from our cats, welcomed younger pups to the family by sharing his bed and warning them about the “love” they would receive from the cats too, and spent years as Mom’s loyal remote work assistant.

Our hearts are broken. If we seem a little quieter or more down than usual, we wanted you to know why. We will be closed today as we take time to grieve the loss of our sweet boy. 💙

Ping’s billboard is officially up! 🎉💗

You can spot it facing the southbound side of I-95, right next to the Blue Rocks baseball stadium in Wilmington, DE.

In addition to the billboard, a $500 donation will be made to Doggone Happy Animal Rescue Inc on Ping’s behalf. We’re so grateful for everyone who voted for him and helped make this happen — Emma is beyond excited to have her baby on a billboard! 🥹🐾

🐾 Gentle Reminder: Flea Season Is Here 🐾

With warmer weather, experts are expecting a particularly bad flea season this year — so we wanted to share a friendly reminder about our flea policy.

To protect the health, comfort, and safety of every dog in our care, we do not accept pups with active fleas.

Here’s why:
🔹 Fleas spread very quickly: One dog with fleas can easily expose other pups in the salon.
🔹 They create discomfort for everyone: Fleas can irritate both pets and people.
🔹 Preventing outbreaks takes extensive cleaning: A flea exposure requires deep sanitation, specialized treatments, and can lead to canceled appointments.

🚫 If fleas are discovered during your dog’s appointment, grooming will stop and your pup will need to be picked up immediately. The full grooming fee will still apply, along with a flea bath surcharge. In cases of severe infestation, an additional sanitation fee may also be added.

If you suspect your pup may have fleas, please treat them at home or through your veterinarian before bringing them in for grooming. Once they’re flea-free, we’ll be happy to get them scheduled! 🛁
