The dog days of summer are officially here, and there’s no better time to celebrate everything we love about life with dogs! August is shaping up to be another exciting month at Highland Canine, with plenty of training, adventures, wagging tails, and exciting things happening across our community.

Saturday mornings are made for training! 🐾

Today we headed to the Hickory Farmers Market to give our dogs real-world experience with busy crowds, traffic, and plenty of distractions. Every team rose to the challenge, and it was fantastic to see the progress they’ve made through consistent practice.

I’m especially proud of our owners for putting in the time, effort, and dedication between classes. That hard work is paying off, and it shows!

Jeb spotted a shopping cart during class and immediately decided it needed to be herded. 🛒🐶

Some instincts run deep—you can train obedience, build focus, and shape behavior, but you can’t erase genetics. Sometimes you just have to laugh and appreciate what dogs were bred to do!

Steve, the Great Dane, is a little unsure around new people, but every training session is another step forward. 💙

Our focus isn’t to force interactions—it’s to build trust, strengthen our relationship, and help Steve realize that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Progress comes one step at a time, and we’re proud of every small win along the way. 🐾
