The Elderberry Syrup is done and ready for when the flu tries to come into our house.

If at anytime we start feeling the start of a cold or flu, we start taking 1-3 Tablespoons 3 to 5 times a day. 1 Tablespoons for our 4 year old. It makes a HUGE difference in how your body protects itself during the cold and flu season. Pair it with some daily Fire Cider to keep your system strong.

You can do the same thing-here’s the recipe:

3 cups Elderberries
6 cups Water
1-2 Cinnamon Sticks
1 teaspoon Ginger
1 teaspoon Fennel Seeds
2 cups Raw Local Honey

1) In a medium pot over high heat, combine the berries, water, and herbs. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 1 to 2 hours or until reduced by half.

2) Use a stone to mash the berries in the pot. Stir, simmer for 15 minutes more, and strain through a wire must thief or cheese cloth. Squeeze the leftover berries well to get out every last bit of fluid. You should have between two and 3 cups of elderberry decoction.

3) Return the elderberry decoction to the pan and place it over low heat. And an equal amount of honey, warming it gently and she stir so it mixes thoroughly with elderberry decoction.

4)Bottle and label labeled syrup. It will keep in the refrigerator for several months.

NOTE: Make sure you keep in a glass jar and don’t let it interact with any plastic, especially when it’s warm/hot.
