Crisp mornings and changing leaves are here. 🍂 Fall also brings a few seasonal things to keep in mind for our pets.

Ticks can remain active well into cooler weather, seasonal allergies may cause itching and irritated skin, and fallen leaves can hide mushrooms or other things curious pets shouldn’t eat. As temperatures drop and daylight gets shorter, it’s also a good time to make sure your pet is ready for the season ahead.

The Fourth of July is almost here! While you're enjoying the celebrations, remember that many pets aren't fans of fireworks.

Here's your holiday pet safety checklist:
✅ Keep pets inside.
✅ Close windows and curtains to help block loud noises.
✅ Make sure your pet is wearing identification.
✅ Skip sharing barbecue leftovers.
✅ Give anxious pets a safe, quiet place to settle in.

🚨 55+ KITTENS NEED FOSTER HOMES — AND THEY NEED THEM NOW. 🚨

Our partner shelters across Northern Michigan are overflowing with kittens. Many have been waiting for weeks for space and resources to become available so they can receive the care they need.

LTBHS is ready to step in and help — but we can't do it without YOU.

Starting Monday, we're hoping to bring more than 55 kittens into our care. To make that happen, we urgently need foster homes for 1-2 weeks while these kittens wait for their spay/neuter appointments and adoption.

🐾 Most kittens are 5+ weeks old and are eating on their own
🐾 We provide food, litter, toys, supplies, and all medical care
🐾 You provide the TLC and a safe space to land

Every foster home opens the door for another kitten waiting for a chance. Our community can be a lifeline for these tiny lions. Together, we can help them leave overcrowded shelters behind and start their journey toward loving forever homes.

Did you know that a rabies vaccine and a microchip are two of the most important tools for protecting your pet?

That's why we're excited to host a Community Pet Clinic on Friday, June 26, from 5–8 PM at Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.

During the clinic, we'll be offering:

💉 Rabies vaccinations for just $10
📍 FREE microchips
🦴 FREE pet food and supplies while supplies last

Rabies vaccinations help protect both pets and people from a serious and preventable disease, while microchips greatly increase the chances of a lost pet being reunited with its family.

No appointment is necessary—just stop by! Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers at all times.
