💗🐾 WE CAME. WE ATE. WE WORE PINK. 🐾💗

And just like that… Vet Tech Appreciation Week is a wrap! 🎬

The South Shore Animal Services crew finished the week the way veterinary professionals deserve to finish EVERYTHING — with someone else cooking breakfast. 😂🥞☕🍳

We took over First Watch in Hanover this morning to celebrate our fabulous Vet Techs — Kelly, Kiyana, Raymond, Sam & Lexi! 🐾

These are the people who can restrain a 100-pound dog, negotiate with an angry 8-pound cat, dodge bodily fluids before 9 AM, find a vein when nobody else can, AND somehow still ask, “Who needs help?” 😳👏

Basically… superheroes. Just with more fur on their clothes. 🦸‍♀️🐕🐈

And since it’s October, the crew showed up in PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎀💕

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from South Shore Animal Services! 🐾

As summer begins to wind down, we’re looking back on some of the wonderful memories our team made together this season—including a fun-filled day at Franklin Park Zoo! 🦁🐯🐒

Our summer outing gives our hardworking team a chance to step away from the clinic, relax, laugh, and enjoy time together outside of work. We’re a small team, and the relationships we build with one another are an important part of the compassionate care we provide every day.

This Labor Day, we want to recognize our amazing South Shore Animal Services team for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the animals and families we serve. 🐾

We’re also incredibly thankful for our clients and community who continue to support us and allow us to do what we love.

It’s back-to-school season, and our kids aren’t the only ones who have important things to learn!

For puppies, their first year is their own version of school. Early training and positive experiences help teach them the skills they’ll need throughout their lives.

📚 Puppy Curriculum:

🐾 Manners 101 — Sit, stay, come & leave it
🐾 Social Studies — Meeting new people, pets & experiencing new places
🐾 Physical Education — Walking nicely on a leash
🐾 Health Class — Getting comfortable with ears, paws, teeth & routine handling
🐾 Field Trips — Positive visits to the veterinary office
🐾 Life Skills — Building confidence, patience & good behavior

And when your adorable little student is a Dogue de Bordeaux who may grow to well over 100 pounds, starting those lessons early can make a BIG difference! 😄

Early training and socialization can help puppies become confident, well-adjusted adult dogs and make everyday experiences like veterinary exams, nail trims, walks, and meeting new people much easier.

Meet the Team: Kiersten

Kiersten has been part of the South Shore Animal Services family for years, and we've loved watching her grow into the incredible veterinary professional she is becoming.

A lifelong animal lover with a passion for helping pets, Kiersten first joined our team while she was in high school as a part-time kennel attendant. Today, she is attending college, studying pre-veterinary medicine with the goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Through hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for veterinary medicine, she has grown from kennel attendant and now serves as an all-around Veterinary Technician, assisting both Dr. Judy and Dr. Jason every day.

Working alongside our veterinarians, Kiersten has the opportunity to observe surgeries and gain valuable hands-on experience that continues to broaden her veterinary education. Her eagerness to learn, compassionate care, and positive attitude make her an important part of our team and a comforting presence for both our patients and their families.

We're incredibly proud of everything Kiersten has accomplished and are excited to watch her continue pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
