🚨 ⚠️ AIR QUALITY ALERT – CODE PURPLE ⚠️ 💜

The air quality in our area has reached Code Purple (Very Unhealthy) levels, and it’s not just people who are affected—our pets are too.

Poor air quality can irritate your pet’s lungs and airways, making it harder for them to breathe. Pets with asthma, heart disease, short noses (like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Persian cats), seniors, and young animals are especially at risk.

🐾 To help keep your pets safe:
• Keep outdoor time as short as possible—potty breaks only.
• Avoid walks, runs, and vigorous play outside.
• Keep windows closed and use air conditioning or an air purifier if available.
• Make sure fresh water is always available.
• Watch for signs of respiratory distress, including:
• Coughing
• Wheezing
• Excessive panting
• Difficulty breathing
• Lethargy or weakness
• Eye irritation or excessive tearing

If your pet is showing any signs of breathing difficulty or seems unusually tired or distressed, don’t wait—seek veterinary care immediately.

At SHORES Veterinary Emergency Center, we’re here for your pets 24/7 when they need us most.

Please help keep your furry family members safe by limiting their exposure until air quality improves. 💜🐶🐱

We are open tonight (Thursday 7/16) 4p-8p
Friday 5p-9p
Sat and Sun 10a-4p

We take our last patient 30 minutes before closing unless we reach capacity earlier.

Reminder-we are a walk in outpatient clinic. We are here for sick pets that cannot wait 2 weeks to get in for an appointment but are not sick enough to require hospitalization or surgery.
If you aren’t sure if your pet should be taken to the ER, please call and we will do our best to triage you to the best place.

07/10/2026

We have reached capacity for the evening and are not taking any more patients tonight. We reopen tomorrow at 10am. Please note the square is closed tomorrow for the Snacktown festival.
