In 1981, Martha Nicholson purchased an old barber shop at her own expense and opened The Cat Corner in Hampton, Virginia. The Cat Corner is a no-kill, non-profit cat shelter for homeless cats, that has been operated by volunteers since 1981 and is solely funded by donations. Cats are accepted into the

shelter as space becomes available and each receives proper medical care, will be spayed/neutered and updated on their shots prior to becoming available for adoption. Adopting families are screened and care is taken to closely match cats and their new families to insure a good fit. It would be unfair to the cat to get attached to a family...only to be brought back to the shelter. We do ask though, if it is not a good fit or there is a change of circumstances and you can no longer provide care for you cat, please bring them back to the Cat Corner and to not take them anywhere else. Please come by and visit the kitties, we are always looking for dedicated volunteers and wonderful forever homes for our kitty residents. Cats know the song in your heart and purr it to you when your memory fails.

Meet Calista!

Hello!!!! Let me introduce myself, my name is Calista!

You will find my demeanor to be laid back, gentle and kind. I am a neat little girl, no messy food areas or litter boxes for me, and like most young cats, I enjoy kicker toys and balls that I can chase around. In my opinion, there is nothing better than affection and I will show you how much I appreciate it with my big purrs! I also enjoy snuggling at night but I promise that I will not keep you awake. If you have a nice window I could look out of to watch the birds, I would really love that. I am not sure about young children but I think older ones would be okay so if you think you would like someone like me, please let my friends at The Cat Corner know because I would love to meet you!

Our adoption fee helps to offset the services that we have provided for your newest addition. Your adoption fee also acts as a donation to help support our organization as a whole, allowing us to continue our efforts to rescue and re-home more animals in need of our help.

​Please see the list below of all the minimum services that each of our animals have received:
▪️Spay or Neuter surgery
▪️Feline Leukemia/FIV combo test
▪️Microchip with free lifetime registration
▪️Rabies Vaccination
▪️Distemper combo vaccine
▪️Deworming treatments
▪️Flea treatment
▪️Senior cats (8+ years) get a full senior blood work panel completed
▪️Behavioral assessment
▪️Starter/ transition food
▪️Information and questions answered

At an area veterinarian you could expect to pay between $425-$880 for these services.

Mable is wonderfully vocal (you’ll love her conversations!), super affectionate with her people, and absolutely fascinated by water. Dipper is her perfect match-playful, loyal, and never far from his sister’s side. This adorable duo is bonded for life and looking for their forever home together. You’ll often find them chasing each other up and down the stairs, playing with every toy in sight, or snuggled up close to their human at bedtime. They get along well with other adult cats and are ready to bring double the love, laughter, and purrs to one lucky home- the best things come in pairs!
