My baby passed away today. She was 11 years old, and I miss her more than words can express.
I still canโt believe Iโm writing this. One moment, she was right hereโsnoring softly in my arms like she always did, her warm Great Dane head resting against my chest, completely at peace. The next moment, she was gone.
Now, my house feels unbearably quietโthe kind of silence that magnifies her absence. Her favorite spot on the couch sits empty. I keep catching myself listening for her heavy breathing or the little sigh she would make when she finally got comfortable. Every corner of this home still holds a piece of her.
People often say, โItโs just a dog.โ
But anyone who has ever loved a Great Dane knows that could never be true.
She wasnโt just my Great Dane.
She was my heart with four paws.
My shadow.
My protector.
My comfort on the days when I felt like I couldnโt keep going.
Great Danes love with their whole bodies and their whole souls. They give everything they haveโevery goofy grin, every head tilt, every moment of unconditional loveโwithout ever asking for more than your presence in return.
She gave me ten beautiful years of loyalty, companionship, and love. No amount of time would have ever been enough.
My heart is shattered, and I already miss her more than I can bear.
Run free, sweet girl. Until we meet again. ๐๐พ๐
