The Companion Animal Hospital The Doctors and Staff at Companion would love to see your pet today! The practice originally began in the early 1950s by Dr. Joe Austin.

Companion Animal Hospital is the oldest veterinary practice in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area. He primarily serviced the dairies of southern Tangipahoa and would do some small animal practice when he had the time. In the 1980's Dr.Karan Gillane and Dr Ron Gilbert took over and grew the practice into what it is today. As more small clinics are being bought out by corporations, Companion remains a locally owned full service hospital. Moving into 2022 under the new ownership of Dr. Taylor McCain Companion Animal Hospital strives to provide the most modern services while maintaining the home town, personalized experience our clients have come to expect.
