Grapes, raisins, and even currants can be more dangerous to dogs than most pet parents realize. Even only a few grapes have been linked to sudden kidney failure that may not show up for days, and homegrown or organic grapes carry the same risk.

Veterinary medicine hasn't pinpointed why some dogs react and others don't, or confirmed what makes grapes so toxic, which is exactly why any known ingestion is treated as a potential emergency, not just the large ones.

If your dog gets into grapes, raisins, currants, or anything made with them, call or chat with our veterinary professionals at 800-213-6680.

🐾 Say hello to our newest patient, Ares! 🐾

This handsome little guy just smashed his very first puppy visit, and let us tell you, he was the absolute best boy for his checkup!
Welcoming a new puppy is such an exciting milestone, and keeping them safe starts with a strong immune foundation. Staying on track with puppy vaccines is incredibly important—it’s the absolute best defense against dangerous, highly contagious diseases like parvovirus and distemper while their immune systems are still growing. Ares even bravely tackled his rattlesnake vaccine today to make sure he's fully protected on all his future outdoor adventures! 🐍💪
Thank you for trusting our team with your sweet boy's care. We can't wait to watch you grow up, Ares! ❤️

🎆 Fourth of July Holiday Hours & Pet Safety Reminder 🎆

Please note that we will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, July 4th, so our staff can celebrate with their families. We will resume normal business hours on Sunday, July 5th.
If you experience a pet emergency while we are closed, please contact MedVet, Priority Pet, or LSU ER.

While the 4th is full of fun for humans, it can be one of the scariest and most dangerous days of the year for our pets. Here are a few quick risks to keep on your radar this weekend:
🎇Firework Anxiety: Loud booms and flashing lights can terrify pets. Keep them secure indoors in a quiet, escape-proof room with a TV or fan running to mask the noise.
🎇Escape Artists: More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. Make sure your pet’s microchip info is up-to-date and they are wearing a collar with ID tags just in case.
🎇Table Scraps & BBQ Hazards: Bones, onions, garlic, grapes, and chocolate are highly toxic. Keeps plates out of reach, and remind guests not to slip your pup any scraps.
🎇Heat Stroke: If you're celebrating outside, ensure your pets have plenty of shade and fresh water. If it’s too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for them!

Have a happy, safe, and peaceful Independence Day! 🇺🇸🐾
