Happy belated Easter to everyone. Just an update, we are still working hard to get skulls finished up and out the door. Nobody has been forgotten about or put on the back burner. Between bug die offs (one of which required entirely re starting the colony) , frozen degreasing tanks and replacing damaged equipment from that, my day job being busier than it has ever been, as well as having a family, finished skulls have taken longer than we had all hoped for. With the exception of a couple Heads, the beetles have finished cleaning skulls and they are lined up for degreasing. Degreasing is the most time consuming and important process for getting a quality finished product. Degreasing Deer can take anywhere from 1-4 months. Greasier critters such as bear can take anywhere from 4 months to a year. It is a step that cannot be skipped or any short cuts taken. It is also the process that has suffered the most from equipment failures in my shop. Thank you for everyones patience. For the good news, we should have a pile of skulls done by the end of the weekend and more done by the end of next week. Stay tuned!

The cold froze my tanks up but with this heat wave, was able to get out today and get more heads into the bugs and degreasing tanks changed. I even had a cute little helper for a bit! The current dark coloration is from the degreasing process, pulling grease and oils from inside the bone, out to the surface. The more grease I can get out before whitening, the better the finished product. Heads will start being returned soon!
