My patients are truly special to me. And being out in PA alone my clients and patients really are my family. This is my patient Sheldon (I call him Shellie).

Sheldon was diagnosed with renal dysplasia as a young puppy on a routine blood screen. His kidneys did not develop normally and do not function properly. We often will run lab testing as early disease prevention. It allows us to keep your pet more safe during anesthestic procedures and allows us to detect diseases that may affect their lives in the future. It helps us to decide which medications are safe for them and allows us to give them the happiest and longest life that we can.

Many people will say "Does my dog NEED that blood test? He/she's been healthy." Sheldon is a poster child for early disease detection. He never looked or acted sick until he recently became ill at the age of 4. Sheldon is lucky that he was blessed with the best mom ever that will do anything for him and loves him more than anything in the world. He's very easy to love though.

These pictures are from the time Sheldon came in dressed up for Halloween as an Ewok. I got the common page over the phone of "Dr. Phelps, your boyfriend is here to see you." I have a few...but they are all four legged and furry. He came running to see me because he was excited and threw himself down like he always did. I blew on his tummy as I always do and gave him lovin's and he gave me many many kisses in return. I'm so happy Shellie's mom had these to share with me. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I truly love this little dog and his in my prayers. Please keep him in yours

Had an absolutely wonderful time doing continuing education in Santa Barbara with some great friends, old and new. Met a few wonderful pups that I wish I could take home with me. If anyone is looking to adopt older, sweet, min pin sisters Laverne and her sister Shirley are up for adoption and deserve a wonderful home. Laverne spent most the 5 days in my lap sleeping. Such a love bug. Cried when I had to leave her. And yet another lesson in why it is important to be tuned into animals and their feelings...try getting a young 165lb dog to do what you want him to when he outweighs you LOL. You have to have patience and the understanding to allow them to buy in. Daniel and his wonderful lips bought in :) So sweet. I will be back at Nottingham vet this week and next if you're looking for me. See ya soon!

Great day so far. Acupuncture for some hip pain in a young, staff member's wiggle pup and shared my lunch with Ringo. Ringo likes chicken but did not want any asparagus... Lol!♡ Can't wait to see more of my favorite clients tomorrow! :)

As you may know my Chloe has a zillion medical issues. We use both Eastern and Western veterinary medicine to treat them all. Most recently she hasn't wanted to eat in addition to her slew of other ailments. Today Chloe got moxibustion. After this treatment she got up, went to the kitchen, and ate cat food after a two day fast (that drove me absolutely crazy).
