From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who joined us for Unleashed: An Evening for Animal Friends on Wednesday. Because of your incredible generosity and support, the event was an overwhelming success!

From ticket sales, raffle ticket purchases, silent auction bids, donations, and everyone who simply came out to support the animals—you made a difference.

A very special thank you goes to the amazing team at Liberty Collective for hosting such a beautiful event and for their unwavering support of Animal Friends Humane Society. We couldn't have asked for a better partner.

Together, we raised an incredible $15,500 before expenses—an amazing accomplishment that will help provide food, shelter, medical care, and second chances for so many animals in need.

🎶🐾 Petey was a hit at the VOA Country Music Fest last night! 🐾🎶

He soaked up all the love, made countless new friends, and stole plenty of hearts everywhere he went. 💜

The only thing missing? A family of his own. Petey is still looking for his forever home, and we're hoping the right person sees him today at the shelter.

🐾 Aurora – 10-month-old female | 32 lbs
A beautiful young girl looking for an experienced adopter who understands herding breed tendencies. With the right guidance, Aurora has so much potential to be an amazing companion.

🐾 Apollo – 7-year-old male | 128 lbs
This gentle giant came to us as an owner surrender. Apollo is house-trained, crate-trained, medium energy, loves his toys, and gets along well with other dogs. He's ready to trade the shelter for a comfy couch.

🐾 Minnow – 13-year-old female | 10 lbs
Don't let her age fool you—Minnow is a sweet little senior with so much love left to give. She's dog-friendly and would love a quiet home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by love. She is currently in a foster home. Please contact the shelter to meet her.

🐾 Koda – 2-year-old male | 14 lbs-ADOPTED
If you're looking for a cuddle buddy, Koda is your guy! He loves pets and attention and will happily climb right into your lap. He's also good with other dogs and can't wait to meet his forever family.

🍞 Toaster Strudel — 3 years old, up to date on vaccines, and good with other dogs!

🥐 Pop-Tart — This 3-month-old boy is up to date on all vaccines. Will be large adult dogs 70 plus lbs.

🥯 Bagel — This 3-month-old boy is up to date on all vaccines. Will be large adult dogs 70 plus lbs.

🚨 FOSTERS NEEDED NOW 🚨

We've taken in a large number of dogs over the past week, and we desperately need your help.

Our kennels are bursting at the seams, and while we're grateful every dog is safe, the shelter is loud, stressful, and overwhelming for many of them.

You don't have to commit forever to make a life-changing difference.

🐾 A weekend.
🐾 A week.
🐾 A month.

Every day a dog spends in a foster home gives them a chance to relax, decompress, and experience what it's like to be part of a family. They'd love nothing more than to share your couch, go for a walk, take a nap by your feet, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet away from the shelter.

Fostering also opens a kennel so we can help the next dog in need.

We provide the supplies—you provide the love.

250 days. One photo. One miracle

It all started on November 28, 2025, when a stray dog came through our doors with a nasty laceration on his leg. Despite everything he had been through, he patiently let our staff clean and care for his wound. We named him Flash.

After completing his stray hold, Flash went into a foster home so he could receive the extra care and attention his leg needed. Once he recovered, he returned to the shelter... and he waited.

Flash spent around 220 days in the very same kennel. He was in foster care around a month.

During that time, our staff and volunteers loved him endlessly. He went on walks, enjoyed doggy dates, played in playgroups, soaked up belly rubs, and greeted everyone with his adorable black spots and constantly wagging little nub tail.

People would stop at his kennel, tell him how handsome he was, slip him a treat, and then head home with another dog.

We just couldn't understand it.

Why was this amazing boy being overlooked? He was a staff and volunteer favorite. We knew how special he was we just wished everyone else could see it too.

Then something incredible happened.

One of our biggest supporters, Fergthebikedude, stopped by the shelter with a donation. As we often do, we grabbed a shelter dog for a quick photo. That lucky dog just happened to be Flash.

We posted the picture on social media, tagged Ferg... and the magic of social media took over.

Shortly afterward, Ferg received a message that simply said:

"I think the dog in that photo is my missing dog."

The gentleman asked if Ferg could meet him at the shelter because he wanted him there for the reunion.

When they met, there was no doubt.

Flash's real name is Timber.

The second Timber saw his dad, that little nub tail was wagging a hundred miles an minute There were happy tears, excited kisses, and a reunion none of us will ever forget.

Now we know why Timber spent 250 days with us.

He wasn't waiting to be adopted.

He was waiting to be reunited with his family.

And somehow, he was waiting for Ferg to stop by, snap one simple photo, and for social media to do what it does best.

Stories like this are why we never give up hope.

Welcome home, Timber. ❤️
